Campus Services Library Assistant
Main Duties & Responsibilities Library and Study Centre Duties • Act as a member of the Campus Services Library team and contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Study Centre. • Assist the Library Manager in promoting and achieving a high quality learning resources service. • Provide support and guidance to students, staff and other users in accessing and making effective use of Study Centre resources and facilities. • Supervise students in the study areas, promoting positive behaviour, providing an appropriate learning environment and ensuring compliance with the relevant Health and Safety requirements. • Assist with student inductions and undertake user education related activities as required. • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Study Centre in the absence of the Library Manager. • Arrange loan and return of resources and ensure stock is maintained in the correct order. • Operate the computerised library systems, including cataloguing new stock and the circulation of resources. • Assist students and staff with the use of business software, learning packages and other study resources. • Arrange publicising, inspection, photocopying and distribution of Study Centre resources. • Prepare and maintain displays and promotional material in the Study Centre as required. • Operate booking systems for AV, IT and other equipment and resources. • Facilitate student and staff registration and maintain appropriate records. • Ensure Study Centre resources, equipment and premises are maintained in a safe, secure and operable condition, reporting faults and maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel. • Support the development of a welcoming, inclusive and positive study environment and contribute to an ethos of high quality customer care. Reception and Campus Services Duties • Provide a high-quality, professional and customer-focused frontline reception service for students, staff, visitors and other users of the campus. • Act as a welcoming first point of contact, responding to enquiries in person, by telephone and through other appropriate communication channels. • Provide accurate information and assistance to students, staff and visitors, referring enquiries to the appropriate department or member of staff where necessary. • Assist with the day-to-day administration and smooth operation of reception. • Provide clerical and administrative support across the Student Experience Department, including reception and customer-facing duties, and other College departments as required or directed. • Facilitate student and staff registration and maintain accurate records and documentation. • Support the operation of campus booking systems, including bookings for rooms, AV, IT, equipment and other resources as required. • Undertake routine financial transactions and ensure correct cash and money handling procedures are followed. • Assist students, staff and visitors with general enquiries relating to campus facilities, services and resources. • Support the effective communication and distribution of information to students, staff and visitors. • Assist with general administrative tasks and contribute to the efficient running of front-line services. • Provide appropriate reception cover and support colleagues, ensuring continuity of service during periods of absence or increased demand. • Maintain a professional reception environment and contribute to a positive corporate image and high standards of customer care. • Report facilities, equipment, Health and Safety or other operational issues to the appropriate personnel and take appropriate action within the scope of the role.
