Experience of working in the public service or the education sector would be beneficial. The school of Visual Culture at NCAD is home to the BA in Visual Culture, MAs in Design History and Material Culture and in Art and the Contemporary World, and a number of research students undertaking MRes and PhD studies. We also offer Critical Cultures classes in art and design history, philosophy and criticism to all the studio-based students in the Schools of Fine Art, Education and Design and the First Year Department. The school team is made up of c. 20 part time and full academics. We may form a panel from this process. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The role holder will undertake the administrative duties required for the successful operation of the School. The role requires the flexibility to work with and across organisational structures at NCAD as our administrative processes are reviewed and refined. ● Timetabling classes and making room bookings, scheduling of meetings and undertaking other academic planning activities; ● Circulating & distributing school calendar and maintain up to date communications about school policy for staff (full-time and part-time) ● Keeping minutes of meetings; ● Preparing and maintaining accurate and up-do-date records concerning student progression and examination; ● Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for the School including the preparation the purchase orders, as well as the processing expenses claims / invoices. The role holder will also purchase stationary, materials and other requisites; and book travel and accommodation for staff, external examiners and others. ● Process and support part-time academic staff and guest lecturers in the preparation of timesheets (i.e. pay claims for hourly and short term work); ● Providing administrative support to academic staff concerning the preparation and sharing of learning materials required by students, including on-line learning content and student handbooks, as well as assessment feedback; ● Liaison with other Schools / Departments and other NCAD functions to ensure the effective operations of the School; ● Supporting the line manager in communicating and establishing with and engaging external stakeholders; ● Acting as a key point of communication for the School, responding to student and public queries; ● Any other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Appropriate Officer from time to time Selection Criteria Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. SECTION 1: THE ROLE Cork County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which vacancies for Permanent Part time Senior Library Assistant (Grade 4) Branch Library Castletownbere may be filled. The library service is delivered through a branch and mobile network, supplemented by a growing suite of digital services. The 25 branch libraries are in the main towns throughout Co. Cork and include the Library Headquarters on Carrigrohane Road, which also serves as the centre for Reference and Local Studies, bibliographic services, and administration. Towns and villages not served by a branch library are served by a fleet of 4 mobile libraries. The role of the Senior Library Assistant is to provide support to branch managers or in the case of part-time branches and mobile libraries, oversee the branch/mobile unit. The Senior Library Assistant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the library service, assisting with the delivery of work programmes that will meet the goals, targets and standards set out in national and local development plans. Working Hours: The working hours for the post will depend on the particular requirements / vacancy arising. The initial vacancy is in Manorhamilton Branch Library and will be on the basis of 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work their contracted hours over the Library’s working week, from Monday to Saturday, and working hours will include weekend and late evenings. The Council reserves the right to alter the working hours as required to facilitate the Library Service. The successful candidate may be required to work additional hours on an ‘extra-hours’ basis when necessary. While the successful candidate will be assigned to the relevant Branch Library, as the Library Service is a county-wide service, it should be clearly understood that staff may be required to provide cover at, and may be reassigned to, any Library Service point within County Leitrim as required by the County Librarian and/or Chief Executive. Annual Leave: The annual leave entitlement for this part time post, which will be allocated in hours, will be on a pro-rata basis to a full-time post (189 hours per annum for a full time post), reflecting the relevant hours per week working arrangement and duration of contract. 8. Superannuation: All new entrants to pensionable public service employment on or after 1st January 2013 will be members of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme. All members of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme will be required to contribute 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration plus 3% of pensionable remuneration. Pension and retirement lump sums for member of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme will be based on career-average pay; pensions will be coordinated with the State Pension Contribution Scheme. Persons who are pensionable under the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998, and are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution, will be required in respect of superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependant or qualified children). You will also be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Childrens’ Contributory Pension) Scheme to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of pensionable remuneration in accordance with the terms of the Scheme. Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class D rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of his/her superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 5% of pensionable remuneration. You may also be required to pay Spouses and Children/Widows and Orphans contributions at the rate of 1.5% of pensionable remuneration. 9. Retirement Age: The Single Public Service Pension Scheme (“Single Scheme”) as provided by the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 commenced with effect from 1st January 2013. The act introduced new retirement provisions for new entrants to the public service appointed on or after 1st January 2013, as well as to former public servants returning to the public service after a break of more than 26 weeks. POSITION SUMMARY Jigsaw is hiring an eLearning Administrator on a part-time, fixed term 2-year basis.  This contract is being offered on a shorter working year basis. Time worked will be in line with the post-primary school academic year and will be 35 working weeks out of 52 per annum. The eLearning Administrator will work 4 days per week (i.e. 30hrs per week) , however the hours can be negotiated as there will be some evening work required to support webinar and online training delivery.
