Conservation Cleaner
The Role The duties of the Conservation Cleaner (General Operative Band 3 (Rural)) are wide and varied. The primary function of the job holder will be to carry out duties relating to conservation cleaning duties for all areas within Castletown House and its ancillary buildings. The successful candidate will adhere to the cleaning programme in place which specifies cleaning requirements for same areas / individual rooms and to always maintain the standard required. The successful candidates will be based at Castletown House, Celbridge, Co. Kildare, and may be required to work at other OPW sites as and when directed by management. The hours of attendance will be determined by local management requirements. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Candidates, must possess the following, at the closing date: Reporting Relationship The Conservation Cleaner (GO Band 3 (Rural) reports to the Service Manager/Foreperson/Office and Stores Supervisor and to any other person to whom authority has been assigned and/or delegated. It is a condition of the Collective Agreement that persons availing of the agreement will not be eligible for re-employment in the Public Service by any Public Service body (as defined by the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts 2009 – 2011) for a period of 2 years from termination of the employment. People who availed of this scheme and who may be successful in this competition will have to prove their eligibility (expiry of period of non-eligibility). Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement (ISER) It is a condition of the Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement (ISER) as set out in Department of Finance Circular 12/09 that retirees under that Scheme, are not eligible to apply for another position in the same employment or the same sector. Therefore, such retirees may not apply for this position. Department of Health and Children Circular (7/2010) The Department of Health Circular 7/2010 dated 1 November 2010 introduced a Targeted Voluntary Early Retirement (VER) Scheme and Voluntary Redundancy Schemes (VRS). It is a condition of the VER scheme that persons availing of the scheme will not be eligible for reemployment in the public health sector or in the wider Public Service or in a body wholly or mainly funded from public moneys. The same prohibition on re-employment applies under the VRS, except that the prohibition is for a period of 7 years. People who availed of the VER scheme are not eligible to compete in this competition. JOB DESCRIPTION Galway City Council is seeking to form panels from which permanent, temporary and temporary seasonal posts may be filled at General Operative grade. The General Operative grade is an entry-level outdoor grade in Galway City Council and is a critical post in terms of ensuring quality service delivery to the public. Typical services include roads and transportation, maintenance of social housing units and estates, environmental, upkeep of recreation and amenity facilities etc. The role is likely to be outdoors, operational and manual and the duties will vary according to the functional area to which the person is assigned. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, adaptable, flexible, and capable of acting on their own initiative and someone with a strong sense of commitment to delivering quality public services. Annual Leave: The annual leave entitlement will be 25 days per annum. Residence: Holder of the post shall reside in the district in which their duties are to be performed or within a reasonable distance thereof. Outside Employment: The position is whole-time and the employee may not engage in private practice or be connected with any outside business which would interfere with the performance of official duties. Driving Licence: A full clean driving licence is required. The successful candidate will be required to provide their own transport. Expenses incurred in work related travel will be recompensed in line with departmental circulars. Garda Vetting: The successful applicant may be required to undergo Garda Vetting prior to appointment. Superannuation Contribution: Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority, who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of the State Pension Contributory). Widows & Orphans/ Spouses & Children’s Scheme All persons who become pensionable officers of a local Authority are required, in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children’s Contributory Pension) Scheme, 1986, to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of State Pension contributory) in accordance with the terms of the Scheme. New Entrants From 1st January 2013 – Single Public Services Pension Scheme FOR NEW ENTRANTS recruited on or after 1st January, 2013 as well as former public servants returning to the public service after a break of more than 26 weeks. The Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 applies to your employment. Members of this Scheme are required in respect of superannuation to contribute at the rate of 3% of pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of State Pension contributory) and you are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution. Retirement Age: Retirement age will be determined on previous Public Sector Service (if any) and will be advised on appointment. Job Description The Virtual Art department, under supervision of the VAD Creative Director - is the link between physical sets and virtual assets, working closely with Art department and construction, to design physical sets which can be integrated digitally. And in consequence, creating Dynamic Digital Backdrops, built from high fidelity 3d assets that are virtually identical to their physical counterparts. The VAD trainee role will include learning the design process of creating a world composed of both physical set and dynamic digital backdrop, as well as the 3D workflow used to convert CAD sets, or drawings into high fidelity 3d assets.
