Details of Service Kerry Specialist Palliative Care Service (KSPCS) is a HSE funded service which is managed by the Head of Service of UHK who reports to the IHA lead for Kerry. Kerry Hospice Foundation is a fundraising organisation who are core to development of KSPCS working in partnership with the HSE . The Kerry Specialist Palliative Care Service (KSPCS) provided is currently led by three consultants, 24/7 on-call service which has proven of immense value to the hospital and community in improving palliative care services. The service is currently provided in the following settings: Specialist Palliative Care In Patient Unit There is currently a 15 bed Specialist Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Kerry which opened in December 2017 and it is co-located to UHK. KSPCS is currently in Phase 3 Development building works, which includes building 5 extra bedrooms. These works we hope will be completed in 2027. Patients are admitted to the Inpatient Unit for complex symptom management and end of life care that cannot be met in other care settings. Staffing of the Unit includes a CNM II, CNM Is, RGNs, Healthcare Assistants, Porters, Administration staff, Allied Health Professionals including Pharmacist, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Pastoral Care, Speech and Language Therapy, Medical Social Workers and Dietician. There is a CNM3 responsible for the IPU and Day Service. Community Specialist Palliative Care Service The Kerry Community Specialist Palliative Care Service is delivered by one team divided in 2 due to the large geographical spread of the county and its population. There are 2 bases, one in the Specialist Palliative Care Unit UHK covering North Kerry and the second base in Killarney delivering a service to South Kerry. The community nursing team includes a CNM3, Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and 2 Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioners (RANPs) for the Residential Care Facilities. In 2026, a new ANP will be recruited to join the community team. The community service delivers a seven day service to patients in their place of residence. This may be the patients home, community hospital or private nursing home. The team works closely with the General Practitioners, Public Health Nursing team and staff of Residential Care Facilities. Specialist Palliative Day Service The Specialist Palliative Care Ambulatory Day Unit is also co-located to UHK and opened in 2007. The service provides a mixed medical/social/supportive model of care. Staffing of the unit includes a CNM II, CNM1, RGNs, Healthcare Assistants, Porters, Administration staff, Allied Health Professionals including Pharmacist, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Pastoral Care, Speech and Language Therapy, Medical Social Workers Dietician and Psychotherapist. There is a CNM3 responsible for the IPU and Day Service. Specialist Palliative Day Unit also offers complimentary therapy. Acute Specialist Palliative Care Service- University Hospital Kerry The Acute Specialist Palliative Care Service includes Consultants in Palliative Medicine, SPRs/Registrar, Senior House Officers, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Social Worker and Administration support. It provides 24/7 palliative care to UHK. Purpose of the Post The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will work in a collaborative manner with the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 and will deputise in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager 2. To be responsible for the management, care, and treatment of service users, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility. The primary role of the Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM 1) will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing team by means of role modelling best practice, including the development of nursing staff by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses where this is appropriate. The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will assist in managing the nursing team and in co-ordinating the multidisciplinary care of patients attending the service. Production Support Officer
OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE: To support activities in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance within Almac Sciences API Manufacturing Operations. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Manufacturing Compliance in the management of electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) within Operations which includes: • Tracking and driving closure of CAPA and QE actions, including delivery of those owned personally and tracking and ensuring delivery of those owned by others within Operations • Investigate deviations from GMP and where appropriate, help develop suitable corrective actions • Support development of required process or equipment changes raised from QEs, deviations and CAPAs • Ensure any additional documentation such as deviation reports or CAPAs are appropriately completed in an accurate and timely manner Complete weekly compliance walks of all manufacturing areas as directed by the Senior Production Support Officer Lead and support regular facility GMP walk throughs, ensuring site and plant requirements are met and maintained in accordance with GMP standards Support the Production Department in the modification and introduction of GMP facilities, systems and equipment including appropriate validation lifecycle activities Support Operations document management system by updating documentation including SOPs and POIs as directed by management GMP Documentation: Monitor the standard of documentation generated within operations and implement meaningful measures of accuracy and right first time Support the Operations Department during periodic reviews as directed by the Senior Production Support Officer Ensure relevant staff are trained on CAPA system, change control and unplanned deviations Metrics: Support in the generation of meaningful compliance and training KPIs for Operations and use the data from the KPIs to monitor and drive performance improvement Ensure good linkages are maintained with the departments which interact with and potentially impact Operations compliance such as QA, QC and AES Interface with Almac Group functions including IS, Facilities and Engineering to deliver required GMP activities for Operations Identify and implement opportunities for performance improvement and inspire a culture of continuous improvement within manufacturing operations QUALIFICATIONS A Level or above EXPERIENCE Experience within a similar role KEY SKILLS Proven ability to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and associated work instructions Proven understanding of GMP Computer knowledge of email, Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to understand technical processes and explain them Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written to all levels within the organisation Good presentation skills Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment Proven ability to complete documentation to a high standard Excellent time management skills Ability to coach and mentor colleagues and lead by example
