The primary aim of the Community Eye Clinic is to promote good ophthalmic health and quality of life for all categories of patients who attend the eye clinic. The Basic Orthoptist therefore has a vital role to play in providing a comprehensive and high-quality eye care service to patients across the IHA in conjunction with other members of the Community Eye Care teams. Both teams comprise of multi-disciplinary team members. The Community eye service has two Consultant Ophthalmologists (specialisms in Neuro Ophth, Uveitis, Medical retina, Glaucoma and Peads). 6 Optometrists, 1.2 Senior Orthoptists, 1.0 Orthoptist 1 Community Ophthalmic Physician, 2 Ophthalmic technicians.
