Research Assistant Psychologist For Impact, Project

Purpose of the Role The purpose of this role is to support the PI and research team in the implementation and development of the IMPACT EU Prokect( IMprove Psychosocial Careand Social support for children/adolescents with cancer). This post will support the development of the Implementation part of the grant and also other tasks as required. The sucessful candidate will help in the pilot and feasibility study of 3 tools: psychosocial screening and therapeutic tools in CHI, as part of a multicentre study. By using tools such as the Psychosocial Assessment Tool (PAT), Little Nirvana and My Logbook, the project will help healthcare providers identify and meet patients' psychosocial needs early, improving outcomes. The National Children Cancer Service is one of the 5 centres that will benefit from these implementation plans. Essential Criteria: 1) Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in a relevant discipline, such as allied health, psychology, nursing, social or health sciences. 2) Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3) Team-player: Ability to operate effectively as part of a team – is cordial, tolerant and willing to help others, is co-operative and patient; shares work and information; establishes rapport, can influence and develop effective networks. 4) I.T. skills: Knowledge of MS Office suite. 5) Conscientious: Attention to details and organised. 6) Flexibility: Can operate flexibly within a busy environment; can shift focus when required. 7) Motivated: committed to the research group and its development; demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for the role. 8) Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of the values of the organisation. 9) Candidates need to have at least 1 year experience as Research Assistant or Assistant Psychologist in relevant fields (children or adult with cancer, palliative care, children or adult with chronic illness). Details of Service Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest acute hospital in the country. The hospital is a primary teaching hospital with close alliances to University College Cork (UCC), nursing, medical and allied health professional training. The hospital also plays a central role in the management of co-located services on-site. CUH is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland and the only Level 1 Trauma centre in the country – an accreditation given with the presence of 40 different medical and surgical specialities delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Cancer Services, and Emergency Medicine. CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra-regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total population of 1.1 million. CUH now has 800 beds following completion of the transfer of Cardiac and Renal services to the recently constructed Cardiac Renal Centre. The hospital currently employs 3,400 staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in UCC. The Division of Radiology provides comprehensive, high-quality imaging services and image- guided procedures on a 24/7 basis.
