Terms and Conditions 1. The Post: Subject to the availability of suitably qualified candidates, candidates may be appointed by Waterford City and County Council to fill permanent or temporary positions that may arise for its duration. 2. Annual Leave The annual leave entitlement for School Wardens is 15 days. 3. Rate of Pay: The rate of pay is at the 1st point of the General Operative scale (pro-rata – 15 hours 10 minutes per week, Monday to Friday). Payment of increments is dependent on satisfactory performance. 4. Location: Waterford City and County Council reserves the right to assign the successful candidate to any department or premises in use by the Council, now or in the future. Changes in location of employment will not result in payment of disturbance money or other compensation. The person appointed will be required to travel to and from work at their own expense. 5. Hours of Work Hours of work can vary depending on assignment, it is 3.02 hours per day. The Act places a statutory obligation on Waterford City and County Council to ensure that ‘any work or activity which is carried out by a person, a necessary and regular part of which consists mainly of a person having access to or contact with children or vulnerable persons will be subject of Garda Vetting’. 13. Probation: Where a person who is not already a permanent employee of a local authority is appointed, the following provisions shall apply: (a) There shall be a period after such appointments take effect, during which such person shall hold such post on probation. (b) Such period shall be set by the Chief Executive and this period may be extended at their discretion. (c) Such person shall cease to hold the post at the end of the period of probation, unless during such period, the Manager has certified that the service of such person is satisfactory. 14. Examinations and Assessment Division The Examinations and Assessment Division (EAD) is the professional division of the SEC responsible for ensuring the quality and effective conduct of all of the Commission’s examinations. This involves taking all necessary actions to maintain parity of standards in each subject from year to year and ensuring compliance with the requirements and procedures of the Commission. It involves ensuring that full account is taken of all relevant legislation in areas such as equality, anti-discrimination, special educational needs, etc. The EAD is also responsible for research and development in the organisation. The EAD comprises the Head of Examinations and Assessment Division (Deputy Chief Inspector level), four Assistant Heads (Assistant Chief Inspector level) and approximately 50 Examinations and Assessment Managers. The Role The EAM (Physical Education with another Curricular Subject) will report to an Assistant Head of the EAD. THE POSITION The Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience for the position of Foreman Craft. It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates from which vacancies will be filled during the lifetime of the panel. The Foreman Craft shall arrange, under the direction of the relevant supervisor, or his/her appointed representative, the efficient execution of all works in his/her area of charge and discharge all other duties related to his/her work. QUALIFICATIONS 1 Character Candidates shall be of good character. 2 Health Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 3 Education, Experience, etc. Candidates must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: a) Hold an Advanced Craft Certificate (previously known as National Craft Certificate) (Level 6 on NFQ) in a recognised trade (e.g. Carpenter/Joiner, Plumber, Electrician etc) or an equivalent qualification. To participate, as required, in the evaluation and appraisal by the relevant supervisor, or his/her appointed representative, of operatives under his/her direct control. To prepare, as required, data necessary to enable the relevant supervisor, or his/her appointed representative, to work out daily or weekly costings, or other necessary analysis of expenditure in relation to work done. To be available during emergencies to respond to requests for assistance outside of normal working hours. To act, if directed, as an Authorised Officer of the Council under the Litter Pollution, Water Pollution, Waste Management Acts, and other relevant Acts. To assist and liaise with other Departments on works and emergencies. Starting pay shall be determined in accordance with appropriate Departmental Circular letters. New entrants will be placed on the minimum of salary scale. Hours of Work The person appointed will be required to work a 39 hour week Monday to Friday. Environmental Awareness is a service providing information and support to the public on the environment. THE POSITION The Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience for the position of Senior Staff Officer. It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates from which vacancies will be filled during the lifetime of the panel. The Senior Staff Officer is a key frontline management position within the Council, responsible for leading and managing the performance of a department or business unit within the local authority. The role requires an effective and participative leadership approach, with responsibility for the organisation, coordination, and delivery of all operational activities within a section or group of sections, including the supervision, development, and performance management of staff. Senior Staff Officers may be assigned responsibility across a wide range of functional areas, including but not limited to housing, planning, human resources, community and social development, recreation, amenity and cultural services, environmental services, transportation and infrastructure, and emergency services. The post holder is responsible for translating the objectives set out in Corporate, Departmental, and Team Plans into effective operational actions within their area of responsibility. The role is typically carried out as part of a multi-disciplinary team and involves close collaboration with senior management to support organisational priorities and service delivery objectives. A Senior Staff Officer works closely with elected members, external agencies, partner organisations, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services. THE POSITION The Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience for the position of Traffic / Litter Warden, Bray Municipal District. It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates from which vacancies will be filled during the lifetime of the panel. While initial assignment will be at the Bray Municipal District, the successful candidate may be assigned to any of the Municipal Districts/Directorates under the Chief Executive’s control or to any premises/depot in use by the Council, now or in the future. The position is full-time, pensionable and permanent. The holder of the post will perform duties as may be assigned from time to time, on a county-wide remit, to ensure Wicklow County Council comply with all statutory obligations in Road Traffic Acts, Finance Acts and any regulations made thereunder. QUALIFICATIONS Character Candidates shall be of good character. Health Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Education, Experience, etc. The ideal candidate shall: Saturday work will be required on a regular basis. Staff will be rostered for Saturday work in accordance with business needs and will be given time in lieu which is to be used on the next Monday. At peak summer months there may be a requirement for Traffic/Litter Wardens to undertake Sunday attendance as required by management. On Public Holidays there may be a requirement for Traffic/Litter Wardens to undertake to be available as required by management. Garda Vetting Candidates may be subject to Garda Vetting. Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of the net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependant or qualified children). Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class D rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 5% of their pensionable remuneration. All persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority will be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children’s Contributory Pension) Scheme, to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration in accordance with the terms of the scheme.
