Details of Service Cork University Hospital (CUH) has approximately 800 beds and this will increase further to 1,000 beds on completion of the transfer of additional services to the CUH campus. CUH currently employs approximately 3,269 (WTE) staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in University College Cork (UCC). UCC is the Academic partner of the South/South West Hospital Group. CUH has very strong relationships with each of the six schools within the Science Faculty of UCC and this is a key area for future development to maximise the opportunities for both the service and academia. CUH is one of only two Major Trauma Centres in the Republic of Ireland due to the wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatology and Emergency Medicine. CUH is JAG accredited and is a Magnet4Europe Hospital. CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of approx. 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million. In 2022, CUH had 72,928 ED presentations; 265,360 physical out-patient attendances; 38,457 virtual out-patient attendances; 30,379 inpatient discharges and 30,593 day cases. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Health Regions will enable and empower staff to provide services that are: • Integrated, locally planned and delivered • Easier to access and navigate • Available closer to home Health Regions are geographically-based units with clearly defined populations. They align community and hospital services within specific areas. The HSE will retain a strong but leaner central organisation, with more service provision developed at a local level. The HSE South West health region will manage and deliver all public health and social care services in Cork and Kerry. HSE South West includes all hospital and community healthcare services in the region. This includes: • South / South West Hospital Group S/SWHG • Cork Kerry Community Healthcare CKCH • Midlands Louth Meath Community Health Organisation • Community Healthcare Organisation Dublin North City and County The Department of Population and Public Health is also now aligned with this health region Services in the South West health region: HSE Services working within this region include: • Acute Hospitals • Primary care services • Community services • Social care services • Health and social care professionals • Voluntary sector services South / South West Hospital Group and Cork Kerry Community Healthcare will become part of HSE South West health region from 3rd March 2025 and the transition to the new structures will be taking place throughout 2025. Purpose of the Post To be responsible for the management, care and treatment of service users, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility. The primary role of the A/CNM 1 will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing team, including the development of nursing staff by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses where this is appropriate. GA 5 Day Ward This 10 bedded ward manages elective medical admissions from Haematology, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Respiratory services. The ward has a very important function in maintaining the elective patient flow for the Medical Directorate. Clinical Nurse Manager, Outpatients Department, General Hospital
Details of Service Bantry General Hospital (BGH) is a 90 bed rural and remote model 2R Acute General Hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and day patient services. It provides undifferentiated medical care and day case surgical activity for the people of West Cork and South Kerry. It is a member of the South/South West Hospital Group. BGH operates on a 24 hour open access basis for undifferentiated medical intake. The hospital caters for all acute medical emergencies and has a Medical Assessment Unit and a High Dependency Unit. It also has a Rehabilitation and Acute Stroke Unit and a Care of the Elderly Ward. Bantry General Hospital provides elective Day Case Surgery, Minor Procedures and Endoscopy Day Cases. Special Nursing includes Cardiac Rehabilitation and Stroke. BGH is a site for clinical placements for the undergraduate student nurse programme delivered in partnership with the Institute of Technology, Tralee, Co. Kerry. OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE: To perform all duties associated with the document control requirements of Almac Diagnostic Services Quality Management System, including acting as a SME for the Learning Management System and site archivist. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: The post holder will: General Duties Maintenance of Quality Helpdesk. Maintenance of a secure and accurate document archiving system – catalogue receipt of documentation, scan/archive documentation, and control the movement of documentation. Maintenance of Livelink (Electronic Document Management System), including administration of controlled documentation, electronic signatures, and logging onto appropriate tracking systems. Perform review of all documents prior to approval. Ensure the identification, review, approval, and distribution of all documents is performed in compliance with Almac Diagnostic Services Standard Operating Procedures and ensure documentation is available in line with operational requirements. Provide support to all Almac Diagnostic Services Departments on the preparation of documents including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Maintain personnel documentation including CVs, Job Descriptions, Qualifications, and Signature Log. Maintain the Document Library, ensuring reference documents are readily available and access to the Library is controlled. Responsible for storage and filing of all Quality Records on site, ensuring records are held in a controlled and secure manner. Generate Quality KPI reports on a weekly/monthly basis for Senior Management Meetings (DocuSign, Docutrak, Biennial Reviews, Quality KPI indicators). Prepare documentation in support of customer, regulatory, accreditation, and internal audits. Attend and participate in any team, department, and business meetings as required. Ensure all duties are completed in accordance with Good Practice as detailed in Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure all documentation is of a high standard and complies with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Practice Requirements. This role may require additional coverage beyond normal working hours.
