Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. Applications are invited for the following:- PERSON IN CHARGE Ref: 47/2025 Social Care Manager 1 / Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) GRADE Permanent Full-Time (39 /37.5 hours per week) Location: Adults Residential Services, Cork City/suburbs The Purpose The Social care leader (SCL)/ Person in Charge (PIC) has overall responsibility for the effective governance, operational management, and regulatory compliance of a designated centre for people with intellectual disabilities. The PIC ensures the residents receive high quality, person centred care and support that promotes dignity, rights, independence and quality of life in accordance with the Organisations policies and procedures, the health act 2007 (as amended) and relevant national standards. The SCL/PIC will partake in and manage the roster effectively to ensure adequate staffing in line with the Statement of Purpose. Reporting to Area Manager or other authorised person as the Employing Authority may designate Professional Qualifications and Experience etc. Candidates must Possess a level 7 or higher in Social care PLUS a level 8 in a health/management related 3rd level qualification on the Quality & Qualifications (QQI) framework OR Possess a nursing qualification PLUS a level 8 in a health/management related 3rdlevel qualification on the Quality & Qualifications (QQI) framework Possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Social Care Worker Registration Board, CORU And Must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers registration board with CORU from November 2023 , must obtain such registration by November 2025 and must maintain such registration for the duration of employment in this role. If a qualified nurse maintain live annual registration in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) - An Bórd Altranais Have a minimum 5 years’ experience of working in residential services supporting adults with intellectual disability, autism and challenging behaviour is essential. Minimum 2 years management or supervisory experience. Possess or working towards a relevant management qualification. Post graduate training in Positive Behaviour Support is desirable Be flexible to meet the requirements of the service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility is essential Have experience of using alternative communication methods is essential Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is desirable Have experience of using a person centered planning system is essential. Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems Driving Licence Candidates must possess a full driving licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as it is essential for the roles. 3. Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. 4. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 5. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. 6. Hours of Work The normal working hours will be 37.5/39 hours per week (depending on qualification) however, flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers are involved. Starting and finishing times will be as notified to the appointee from time to time by the line manager. It is essential that the PIC ensures that there is constant and appropriate cover available within the residential service at all times. The appointee may be required to work additional hours arising from the duties of the appointment and compensation for these hours by way of time off in lieu, to be taken in line with the policy. The appointee may be required to provide out of hours on call cover and act as a person on responsibility within the service. Salary Scale: Social Care Manager 1: €56,351 - €65,827 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales) Clinical Nurse Manager 1: €56,642 - €66,705 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales) * Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date. The successful candidates will work within the cardiac catheterization lab, primarily supporting interventional cardiology procedures in a scrub and circulator nurse capacity. You will play a vital role in delivery of high-quality patient care ensuring safety and sterility and procedural effect. Key Responsibilities: · Provide hands-on nursing care to patients undergoing interventional cardiology procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their experience. · Promote patient focused approach to care in collaboration with the health care team. · Demonstrating safe and effective infection control practices. · Assist in the management and preparation of the catheterization lab and equipment for procedures, ensuring everything is sterile and ready for use. · Liaise with CNMs/Consultants regarding any clinical complications/concerns · Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and experience. · To be accountable for his/her own clinical practice, maintaining and improving professional knowledge, competence and scope of professional practice, in accordance with NMBI. · Maintain awareness of national, professional and local quality issues relevant to the delivery of nursing services, for example, JCI & HIQA. The successful candidate will be required to start Monday 12th January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for the post-holder to join a busy neurosurgical unit that manages both acute and scheduled cranial and spinal referrals. The post will involve working with a team of Consultants, Registrars, Senior House Officers and Interns. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary surgical and medical team. This post provides excellent neurosurgical experience and plentiful educational opportunities for the post-holder, who will be encouraged to participate in educational programme and presentations. Qualifications and skills Suitable applicants should have experience at Registrar level in Neurosurgery, preferably in the UK and Ireland. Applicants should be registered with the Irish Medical Council and passed MRCS or equivalent. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong grounding in Cranial and Spinal Neurosurgery and a keen interest in research and teaching. While a prior clinical research experience and/or publications are desirable, these are not essential.
