Senior Medical Scientist Microbiology
Senior Medical Scientist Microbiology ( Specified Purpose (1 Year) | Full- time | 35 hours p/w (immediate start). · Qualifications for the post are stipulated by the Health Service Executive. · Evidence of Registration with CORU must be supplied with the application. The ideal candidate must be an experienced and enthusiastic Medical Scientist. The National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh (NOHC) has 37 Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Ireland’s largest dedicated Orthopaedic centre, the national referral centre for post-prosthetic joint infections, Ireland’s primary referral centre for bone and soft tissue tumours, and the dedicated surgical centre for the National Sarcoma Service. NOHC also provides orthopaedic oncology, rehabilitation, rheumatology and paediatric services, and sports and exercise medicine. Home to the National Bone Bank, the Hospital is affiliated with RCSI, UCD and DCU as a teaching establishment. Moreover, we undertake exciting research in collaboration with academic partners, peers, scientists, engineers and industry. The Microbiology Department at NOHC processes approximately 30,000 samples per annum and is accredited to ISO 15189:2022. The Microbiology Department also provides Pathology services to an external Private Hospital, as well as, the National and Regional Bone Banks, and is licensed as a Tissue Establishment (2004/23/EC) by the Health Products Regulatory Authority. The Microbiology Department is well equipped with technology/instrumentation; Winpath LIS, Vitek 2, BacT/ALERT and GeneXpert. Interested? Particulars of the Post Remuneration Salary Scale: €35,256 - €54,370 per annum (monthly payment, if applicable). Incremental credit may be granted for recognised experience in similar roles across public services in Ireland or abroad. Salary confirmation must be submitted within the first year of employment, or the hospital will not be liable for back payments. Tenure The post is permanent/temporary, full-time or part-time, and pensionable. Annual Leave 28 days per annum pro-rata, in line with the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997, and relevant policies. Working Hours 35 hours per week full-time. Flexibility is required to meet service needs. Hours may change between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. over seven days. Superannuation You will join the appropriate Superannuation Scheme based on your entry date and prior service. Information will be provided by the Wages & Salaries Department. Probation A 9-month probationary period applies, extendable by 6 weeks in exceptional cases. Reviews every 3 months. Satisfactory performance is required for confirmation.
