To foster an environment in communities that is inspired by the core values of our founding story, and that responds to the changing needs of our members.” Day Service Assistant - Social Care We are currently recruiting for a Day Service Assistant to work as part of our Day Service Team. L’Arche Kilkenny invites applications from suitable candidates This is a 5 day a week (35.0 hrs) position. The role of the Day Service Assistant is to work both as with groups and one to one with a Core member ( adults with an Intellectual disability we support and maintaining the smooth running of the Day Service. The Day Service Assistant should use their knowledge and expertise to support the Project Leaders in the running of the various projects and to appropriately support the Core Members in pursuit of their lifestyle choices and in developing their skills. Job Purpose & Role · To be responsible for the daily work routine and welfare of the Core Members they are working with in the Day Service. · You will be accountable to the Day Service Coordinator. · To ensure that the plan and scheduling of the Day Service is observed and maintained so that it can achieve its goals and objectives as a service for adults with intellectual disabilities. · To work within and support the “New Directions” model for the Day Service and, on an ongoing basis, to continue exploring current best practise for Day Service provision for adults with intellectual disabilities. · To ensure that the Day Service is run in keeping with the ethos and spirituality of L’Arche as outlined in our Identity and Mission Statements · To assist Project Leaders and the Day Service Coordinator in regard to compiling and presenting reports as required. · To promote the dignity and image of the Core Members. · To maintain the Health and Safety of the working area, maintenance of written records, monitoring accidents, incidents, reporting and recording them appropriately. Qualifications · Level 5 or higher in Social Care, Disability Studies or similar qualification with a view to undertake additional studies supported by L’Arche if necessary. · Experience of working in a ‘high support’ environment while supporting people whose behaviour is described as sometimes challenging. · Experience of working with people with a intellectual disability and/or Autism · Experience in implementing behavioural interventions. To effectively implement appropriate assessment and intervention methods. · A working knowledge of New Directions, Health and Safety regulations, knowledge of HIQA standards and requirements. · Fluent English and excellent communication skills. · Effective communication skills, computer literacy skills including the use of Microsoft Office would be a distinct advantage · To be aware of health and safety responsibilities, taking all possible steps to ensure a safe working environment, and reporting all incidents and potential hazards. Other requirements: · A wide range of experience and knowledge in Day Service provision · Proficient in using care plans, timetables and social stories · Ability to work 1:1 or as part of a team. · Can think fast and use own initiative where needed · MAPA training desirable · Ability to write good quality reports · Diligent and well organised · Patient, Polite and Professional · Full Clean Driving License · Must be able to demonstrate sufficient evidence of communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills. · Contribute by working closely with other members of L’Arche Kilkenny, helping promote good practice. · To attend and contribute to regular Day Service Work Team meetings. · Maintain good relations and team building within the project and the workshop. · To attend further training as provided and to be involved in further reading and research in relation to intellectual disability. · To be prepared to be flexible to move to other areas and projects as the need arises. · Must be willing to participate in swimming pool activities. Locum Consultant In Paediatric Palliative Care

Purpose of role: The locum post holder will support the expansion of the service thus helping ensure that all children with LLCs attending CHI will have access to the PPC Team/Service as needed. Increasing the number of Consultants on the team will facilitate better links with, and integration into, areas within CHI where there are higher numbers of children with LLCs (for example PICU, NICU, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Cardiac ward, Metabolic Unit etc) The consultant will act as a resource to the community based clinical nurse co-ordinators for children with life-limiting conditions who have been appointed regionally to support children with life limiting conditions ensuring best possible care in the home. The post holder will participate in a national advisory service as outlined the National Model of Care for Paediatric Healthcare Services (2016) and with Clinical governance and operational arrangements for supporting a model of care for children with life limiting conditions towards the end of life in the community in Ireland (2020). This includes participating in a national advisory on call rota accessed via Children’s Health Ireland. The consultant will act as a resource to the community based clinical nurse co-ordinators for children with life-limiting conditions who have been appointed regionally to support children with life limiting conditions ensuring best possible care in the home.
