Senior Social Worker
Purpose of the Role The successful candidate will work in The Alders Unit, a specialist child sexual abuse service. The appointee will be responsible for providing social work supports to children and families impacted by child sexual abuse. This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing multidisciplinary team as a Senior Social Worker, to participate in the delivery of assessments and provision of therapeutic interventions to children and their families attending the service. The post holder will be an integral member of the MDT and as part of their role will be required to attend case conferences, MDT meetings and other professional meetings. The Senior Social Worker will also participate in service development, monitoring and evaluation and the provision of training and consultations. Consultant Haematologist
Contract Details This is a Temporary Position consultant appointment on a Contract 2023 basis under the Consultant Public Only Contract 2023 to The Coombe Hospital. This post is for 1 day per week (0.2WTE). There is no on call commitment. This working commitment will normally be delivered across a span of 12 hours between the hours of 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday with an agreed day in liaison with existing staff. The normal duties for the post as outlined in the documentation and agreed by the HSE will include inter alia : The successful candidate duties will include the following: · Will work in the Coombe Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the Master/CEO and CCOO. · Will work as part of the Laboratory Medicine management team within the Hospital. · Will work in the Coombe NCSL and Coombe Pathology department · Will possess the necessary skill-mix to address current deficiencies. · Involvement in Clinical Audit Committee and Ethics Committee as required. · Will provide clinical leadership in MDT context - hand-over, ward-rounds, clinical risk & morbidity/mortality · Conferences, teaching, training and audit. · Teaching, Training, Audit, Risk Management, Quality Improvement. · Continuous Professional Development. Background to the Post The Coombe Hospital Haematology and Transfusion Laboratory, has been established on the campus of The Coombe Hospital since 1829. A formal haematology commitment began in 2005 linked with the haematology service in St James’s Hsopital and this commitment is ongoing. This procedure describes the key roles and responsibilities of the Consultant Haematologist within the Pathology department. General Accountability The person chosen will: · Maintain throughout the hospital awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all of the Hospital’s activities. · It is the responsibility of the Consultant for HPV together with the Director of NCSL and the Master / CEO of this Hospital to ensure this procedure is implemented. · Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Hospital. · Promote open communications throughout the hospital. The duties of the post-holder will include: All consultants working in Haematology and Transfusion medicine must: a) Be a medically qualified consultant registered on the Irish Medical Council Specialist Register for haematology (Clinical and laboratory) b) Take responsibility for the issue of haematology and transfusion test results in conjunction consultant colleagues c) To examine blood films and test results and assist in interpretation d) Be fully integrated into the working of the department(s) and be available during normal laboratory opening hours for staff to consult with or vice versa e) Have satisfactory participation in the CPD scheme for their professional body f) To provide clinical advice and interpretation of results to Clinicians in the Coombe Hospital (Obstetric/Gynaecology and Neonatal). This may involve recommendation of further tests to aid prompt and accurate diagnosis and guide patient management. g) Haematology and transfusion scientific staff will notify the Consultant directly of any clinically significant results requiring comment, advice or early intervention. This notification should be recorded in the request notes or lab comment field. This notification may occur in person or by telephone. h) To assist the Haematology and Transfusion Department in maintaining its ISO 15189 accreditation, by working with the Quality staff and bringing opportunities for improvement to Quality Management System that is in place. i) To participate in a number of scheduled meetings including, but not limited to: Blood transfusion Committee meetings, Routine Prophylactic Anti-D (RAADAP) committee meetings, Monthly Department Meetings, Laboratory Management Meetings and Quality Management System Review (QMSR) meetings. Clinical Nurse Manager, GA Day Ward, University Hospital
Details of Service Cork University Hospital (CUH) has approximately 800 beds and this will increase further to 1,000 beds on completion of the transfer of additional services to the CUH campus. CUH currently employs approximately 3,269 (WTE) staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in University College Cork (UCC). UCC is the Academic partner of the South/South West Hospital Group. CUH has very strong relationships with each of the six schools within the Science Faculty of UCC and this is a key area for future development to maximise the opportunities for both the service and academia. CUH is one of only two Major Trauma Centres in the Republic of Ireland due to the wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatology and Emergency Medicine. CUH is JAG accredited and is a Magnet4Europe Hospital. CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of approx. 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million. In 2022, CUH had 72,928 ED presentations; 265,360 physical out-patient attendances; 38,457 virtual out-patient attendances; 30,379 inpatient discharges and 30,593 day cases. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Health Regions will enable and empower staff to provide services that are: • Integrated, locally planned and delivered • Easier to access and navigate • Available closer to home Health Regions are geographically-based units with clearly defined populations. They align community and hospital services within specific areas. The HSE will retain a strong but leaner central organisation, with more service provision developed at a local level. Details of Service Bantry General Hospital (BGH) is a 90 bed rural and remote model 2R Acute General Hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and day patient services. It provides undifferentiated medical care and day case surgical activity for the people of West Cork and South Kerry. It is a member of the South/South West Hospital Group. BGH operates on a 24 hour open access basis for undifferentiated medical intake. The hospital caters for all acute medical emergencies and has a Medical Assessment Unit and a High Dependency Unit. It also has a Rehabilitation and Acute Stroke Unit and a Care of the Elderly Ward. Bantry General Hospital provides elective Day Case Surgery, Minor Procedures and Endoscopy Day Cases. Special Nursing includes Cardiac Rehabilitation and Stroke. BGH is a site for clinical placements for the undergraduate student nurse programme delivered in partnership with the Institute of Technology, Tralee, Co. Kerry. Quality Systems Officer Location: Craigavon Hours: 37.5 hours. Duties include document review, support for document preparation, personnel documentation maintenance, and management of the document library. The role also involves secure storage of quality records, generating quality KPI reports, supporting audits, and participating in meetings.
