OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the reimagined W5. We are looking for staff members who are excited to interact with visitors, inspiring them to engage with science and a range of shows and interactive exhibits. MAIN DUTIES: Engage with visitors throughout W5 undertaking the following duties: - Ticket Desk Meet and Greet visitors as they arrive in W5 - visitors range from family groups, school groups to summer scheme groups. Process bookings, walk-up sales, provide orientation regarding exhibition floors and daily shows/events and respond to visitor queries. Lost Planet Soft Activity Zone Manage admissions by checking tickets, provide Health and Safety orientation, supervise play, ensure rules of play are followed at all times, inspect equipment and ensure standards of cleanliness are upheld. Exhibition Floors Ensure that all exhibits are operational. Direct and guide customers so they can engage with a range of science related exhibits and attend shows and events. Maximise visitor experience by demonstrating how exhibits work. Ensure Health and Safety/Safeguarding procedures are adhered to and act as a Fire Warden. Carry out cleaning and exhibit maintenance duties to ensure visitors experience a pleasant environment. Climbit Climbing Structure Provide Health and Safety orientation, supervise play, ensure rules of play are followed at all times, inspect climbing structure and ensure standards of cleanliness are upheld. Meet and Greet Groups/Birthday Parties Prepare for group arrival in advance of their visit. Meet and Greet groups and provide an orientation – adapting orientation based on group demographic. Dog Warden
KEY PURPOSE Contribute to the delivery of the Dog Control service within the Health and Community Wellbeing section in accordance with prescribed performance and quality targets. The post holder will as part of a team be responsible for a range of duties in the delivery of an effective dog control service which requires a high level of customer service, the ability to deal with and resolve issues in accordance with procedures and to ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legislative requirements. The postholder may be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis (out of hours’ services as required). (Note: Postholders conduct all duties in all weather conditions as a lone worker) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Enforce legislation, Orders and Byelaws relevant to dog control; including all matters relating to dog attacks on persons, livestock and other animals, dog licensing (including microchipping), collection and impounding of stray dogs, and the identification and seizure of banned breeds. 2. Plan, organise and prioritise the day to day management of personal work allocations to achieve the objectives and targets detailed in the Dog Control and Animal Welfare Service Delivery Plan. 3. Investigate complaints, conduct interviews, issue cautions and/or fixed penalty notices in accordance with dog control enforcement guidelines and policy. Gather evidence, prepare reports, assist in the preparation of legal files and attend court to give evidence. 4. Use and maintain all relevant management information systems, undertake associated administrative tasks and maintain such records as are required by the Council in relation to dogs and all operational aspects of the dog control and animal welfare service. 5. Undertake training and development so as to maintain and update knowledge of professional, technical and legislative developments within service areas and ensure authorisation powers pertinent to the post are maintained/enhanced. 6. Register, Inspect and monitor dog breeding establishments and guard dog kennels to ensure compliance with government guidelines and issue Certificates of Registration. 7. Use and be responsible for maintaining in a clean, hygenic and safe working condition all allocated resources including kennels, Council vehicle, safety and investigative equipment; maintain records as required and report any incidents/ accidents or defects to the Line Manager. 8. Liaise with the Council’s kennelling provider on actions associated with the impounding, reclaiming and rehoming of dogs. 9. Feed impounded dogs and ensure all aspects of dog welfare in relation to the kennelling of dogs. 10. To render any necessary minor first aid to injured dogs or recommend the assistance of a Veterinary Surgeon and where necessary to oversee the humane destruction of dogs. 11. Create, develop, deliver and review educational programmes and publicity materials on responsible dog ownership to schools, community groups and members of the public. 12. Participate in and encourage cross departmental and interagency working; liaising with relevant council departments, statutory agencies, professional bodies, animal welfare organisations and other stakeholders to improve service delivery. 13. Assist with the Identification and installation of dog control signage and CCTV cameras and regularly monitor for adequacy and report on findings with recommendations. 14. Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation. 15. Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures. 16. Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality. 17. Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time. Introduction Bryson Pathways through its Training and Employability Programmes delivers employment and vocational training programmes to young people and the unemployed. For over 30 years it has been successfully managed and delivered a wide range of qualifications, training and employment programmes. Job Purpose The Caretaker/Mini-bus driver will be responsible for driving a minibus to transport Bryson Participants and /or staff to other training delivery sites, on organised trips or activities. When not required to undertake driving duties they will assist with the upkeep and security of the building. Principle Duties • Always ensuring the safety of passengers in compliance with current legislation - specifically health and safety legislation; and public health best practice. • Undertaking all necessary vehicle maintenance and safety checks are undertaken and properly documented and recorded. • Ensuring the minibus is maintained internally and externally in immaculate condition. • Undertaking the supervision of young people entering, about and leaving the building. • Being aware of and challenging any unauthorised personnel on site. • Assisting with the organisation of the building and/or rooms for training activities or functions including moving furniture and furnishing. • Providing support to other colleagues and young people when required. • Regular building checks and reporting to ensure full contractual and legal compliance. • Any other duties as may be reasonably requested or required. Part-time Lecturers assist with the delivery/assessment for full and part-time courses across a range of curriculum areas. Supplementing our core delivery team, we are looking for individuals that can provide our students with a quality learning experience, bringing with them their skills and expertise from a wide range of industries. Candidates who are successfully appointed to the Part-time Lecturer/Assessor Register 2026-27 will remain on this register for a period of two academic calendar years from the date they were appointed. There is no guarantee of work, however, if work becomes available the hours of work will vary based on the business needs of the college. The post holder will be required to adopt a flexible approach as teaching hours will be required at various times including the possibility of some evening work. However we will always take into account your availability preferences.
