DML Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Please note: The service serves a diverse adult population, with a significant focus on older people and vulnerable patients who wish to avoid unnecessary hospital admission. Specifically, the team manages patients with acute infections and complex clinical needs, this is not limited to the following examples of commonly referred conditions; osteomyelitis, pyelonephritis, septic arthritis, post-surgical wound infections, and complex skin or prosthetic joint infections. While the OPAT service & Community Intervention Services is already operational, a core focus of this cANP role is to lead its further expansion and the enhancement of clinical governance. A key future development is the evolution of clinical protocols to include the community-based removal of vascular access devices (such as PICC and mid-lines). This will create a more streamlined and comprehensive patient journey, allowing for the entire episode of care—from treatment initiation to final discharge—to be managed safely within the community setting. This team will also work closely with the development of the Neuro Rehabilitation Team, ICPOP and Chronic Disease Hubs. The unit consists of a specialist nurse-led team that operates as part of the wider primary care infrastructure. The service is clinically aligned with the National OPAT Programme and governed through the Public Health Nursing Service. The cANP works as a clinical leader within this multidisciplinary framework, collaborating with General Practitioners (GPs), Hospital Consultants, and the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons (ICPOP) to ensure seamless service integration. The service covers the Longford/Westmeath geographic area, with its primary clinical base located at St Vincent’s Campus, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. The team operates across this region to facilitate early hospital discharge and prevent emergency department attendances for local residents.

CORLANN –WEST REGION POST: LOCUM RELIEF SUPPORT WORKER GALWAY CITY AND COUNTY JOB REF: 96252 Location: Staff allocation could be either within Centre based residential/day centres, or in the Community as Service needs require. The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working caring role for a group of People Supported by the Services. This role comprises two main elements. Firstly, the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support People Supported by the Services with development on Individual Plan’s and achievement of associated outcomes. In addition, a critical component of this role is to support People Supported by the Services in community participation and integration. Reporting/Responsible To: Staff Nurse in charge/Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator. Qualifications: Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is an advantage. A full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence is desirable. A commitment to obtaining a full licence within nine months of commencement is required as it is essential that the appointee can drive the transport that is assigned to the Service. Due to the nature and location of services, many service areas require applicants to hold a full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence. Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship Introduction: The Congenital Heart and lung Surgery Fellowship is under the direction of Prof JM Redmond, Mr L Nölke and Mr Jonathan McGuiness. The field of congenital heart and lung surgery has developed into a separate super-subspecialty. Optimal surgical results are only achieved in highly dedicated, specialized centres with focused specialists attending to the medical necessities of these very ill children and adults. Central to this team is the congenital cardiothoracic surgeon. It is well recognized that cardiothoracic surgeons wishing to focus their careers on Congenital Heart Surgery benefit from additional, concentrated training in this difficult field. As such, the Fellowship in Congenital Heart Surgery at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin offers an outstanding opportunity for the appropriate candidates. The Cardiothoracic surgery department at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin is the national program serving a population of 4.4million, with a further population (of 1.5million) in Northern Ireland beginning to be served by the same surgical group. The current birth rate in Ireland of over 60,000 means there are over 600 newborns per year with congenital heart disease. Approximately 200-250 will need surgical intervention in the first year of life. This places the hospital in a particularly advantageous position in terms of training future paediatric cardiothoracic surgeons. At Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin (CHI), we perform approximately 500-550 open and closed cardiac cases per year. This surgical caseload encompasses a variety of complex congenital open cardiac repairs and includes correction in even the smallest neonates. We also have an active extracorporeal life support (ECLS) program for cardiac patients. A dedicated paediatric cardiac surgical intensive care unit is staffed by paediatric cardiologists / intensivists / anaesthesiologist.
