The Menu of Life Enhancing Activities (MoLEA) Project is an innovative approach that addresses the social and cognitive needs of adults aging with intellectual disabilities (ID) in St Louise Centre. Phase one in 2024 was successful in piloting individually tailored MoLEA to a group of twelve supported individuals living with / or at increased risk of dementia. The purpose of phase two of this study is to expand the MoLEA using designed Guidance documents from Phase one to a wider group of 50 adults, and to examine the intervention in terms of levels of activity, social and community connectedness, communication, neuropsychiatric symptoms, activities of daily living and quality of life for older adults with an ID living in a campus setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a resourceful person to join the Avista Memory Clinic team and gain experience at project work with a focus on supporting creative person-centered care. It is envisioned that the outcome from this project will inform best practice supporting a holistic approach to dementia care in St Louises.
