The purpose of this role is to sell membership and provide customer service, and administrative support to the Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland. This is an appointment to the HSE West & North West Region on a Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023 by the Health Service Executive. This post will support service provision within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Departments at Galway University Hospital 18.5 hours and Portiuncula University Hospital 18.5 hours. Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners Maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the relevant specialty. The post-holder will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Consultants, Midwives and HSCPs. The post-holder will participate in the obstetric on-call rota shared between GUH &PUH according to their work schedule which will be devised with their Clinical Director. The post-holder will deliver 37 hours split between the 2 sites (alternate weeks) and will participate in the on-call rota at 0.5 level at each site. The services they will provide will be OPD, Inpatient, Day Ward, Ambulatory Gynaecology Services, theatre sessions and they will contribute to the TOP service in GUH and PUH. It is expected that the post holder will participate in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including clinics, theatre, inpatients, day case, Ambulatory Gynaecology, Labour Ward and Termination of Pregnancy services. There will also be options to be involved in Colposcopy Services and other areas of special interest The Maternity, Gynaecology and Neonatology Units at PUH and GUH have a close working arrangement. There is a referral pathway for high-risk women, including multiple pregnancy to GUH for delivery on the GUH site. In PUH there are 5 obstetricians/gynaecologists –1 with special interest in fetal maternal medicine and 1 with special interest uro-gynaecology and three are general obstetricians and gynaecologists. The Unit at GUH has consultants with sub-specialty training in fetal maternal medicine, fertility treatment, uro-gynaecology and gynae oncology. This joint appointment strengthens the close working between both sites and provides more sustained and safer maternity services into the future..

Children’s Health Ireland are seeking to fill this Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Physician post on a specified purpose contract 37 hours per week at Children’s Health Ireland. This includes 18.50 hours per week at CHI at Temple Street and 18.50 hours per week at CHI at Tallaght. Purpose of the Role: Strategy: i) To reduce extremely long waiting lists for outpatient clinic review: currently there is a two year waiting list for a routine new appointment with a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine at CHI at Temple Street and 1 year at CHI at Tallaght. ii) To reduce waiting lists for investigations of sleep disordered breathing. Currently there is a two year waiting list for overnight studies to diagnose these disorders e.g. overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies and overnight oxygen studies. There is a two year waiting list for both of these studies at CHI at Temple St. At CHI at Tallaght, there is a 20 month waiting list for overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies, a 29-month with for overnight oxygen studies and a 5 month waiting list for cardiorespiratory polygraphy (CRPG). iii) To reduce waiting times for investigations to assess and regularly monitor gas exchange in children on long term ventilation (e.g. CPAP and BIPAP: overnight sleep study waiting times as outlined above. Specialities whose workload will change: This will reduce the waiting time for patients referred for Respiratory review and investigation from other specialties including ENT, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Metabolic, Endocrine, Neuro-disability, General Paediatrics, Craniofacial etc. This will reduce waiting time for GP referrals for secondary and tertiary respiratory review. Respiratory service: Currently, there is a two year waiting list for routine new outpatient paediatric Respiratory appointments in CHI at Temple St. and a one year waiting time in CHI at Tallaght. There is a two year wait for overnight oxygen studies investigations for sleep disordered breathing in CHI Temple Street and 29 months waiting list at CHI Tallaght. There is a two year wait for overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies for routine assessment of children on long term ventilation (e.g. CPAP and BIPAP) and those with sleep disordered breathing at CHI Temple St and similarly a 20 and 18 month waiting list espectively at CHI Tallaght (e.g. overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies). These studies are important to assess and regularly monitor the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Provision of a long term ventilation service for children: the number of referrals for this service from a broad range of sub-specialities has hugely increased over the last few years as have referrals from across the country. Investigation of Sleep Disordered breathing in children is an area that has increased significantly over the last few years with huge increase in referrals to respiratory services from within the hospital and from across the country Investigation of Sleep Disordered breathing in children is an area that has increased significantly over the last few years with huge increase in referrals to respiratory services from within the hospital and from across the country This post will also support the Clinical Specialty Lead for Respiratory to fulfil the remit of the Clinical Specialty Lead role. Eligibility Criteria Professional Qualifications and Experience Mandatory: a) Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Paediatrics and b) Two years certified postgraduate training in paediatric respiratory medicine The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. In exceptional circumstances proleptic appointments may be considered for candidates engaged in relevant training programmes. The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children’s Health Ireland. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate. Should no suitable candidate exist, a further recruitment process may be initiated. Desirable Criteria: Clinical fellowship, or specialist training, in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine, national or international. Experience with interventional bronchoscopy and aerodigestive disorders is desirable but not essential.
