PERSON CENTRED WING KILKENNY SERVICES SOCIAL CARE WORKERS/SUPPORT WORKERS (VARIOUS CONTRACTS AVAILABLE INCLUDING RELIEF) The focus of this role will be to support an individual to realise their vision to leading a good life through Person Centred approaches in line with personal interests, skills, will and preference. Pharmacist, Staff
The overall aim of the post is to assist in the medication management process in the hospital and to ensure as far as is practical, the safe, effective and economic use of medicines in SLGH. The principal duties and responsibilities of the Pharmacist Staff Grade include, but are not limited to the following: · Supervise and supply of drugs, pharmaceuticals and other related items as may be required. · Perform duties in the dispensary to ensure that the purchase, storage and supply of all items is operated on the most economical lines, consistent with quality at pharmacy, ward and department levels and with reference to legal requirements, transit, security and conditions of chemical and physical stability. · Maintain records for purchasing, quality control and dispensing to the standards required. · Participate in the development and expansion of ward clinical pharmacy services, antimicrobial stewardship and top-up services. · The provision of advice, as required, to medical and nursing staff on the safe and economic use of drugs and medicines including participation in schemes for the dissemination of information in relation to drugs and drug usage designed to deliver optimal care – economically. · Co-operate with clinical, scientific and nursing staff on the maintenance and development of new methods of treatment. · Participate in the development, implementation and audit of guidelines, with regard to use of drugs. · Ensure the needs of the patients and professional staff are adequately met by the pharmacy service within resources provided. This will involve providing help and advice to patients and staff on all aspects of therapy and collaborating with community pharmacists to ensure continuity of supply of medication where necessary. · Participate in the development of medication safety processes within the hospital. Meet the legal requirements associated with the storage, dispensing and record-keeping of controlled drugs · Participate in continuing education and in such activities consistent with the post. Attend such study days and continuing education courses as may be deemed necessary for the development of both the service and the individual. To maintain professional competency by involvement with Continued Professional Development. · Participate in the teaching and training (including in-service training) of pharmacy, medical, nursing and other staff as may be required. · To co-operate with and assist the Pharmacy Executive Manager 2 in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities as required. · Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role. · To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service. JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Minimum Eligibility Requirements are the minimum requirements required for the position and are set out by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for administrative and technical/engineering grades. For outdoor grades and some specialised grades, the minimum eligibility requirements are set out by Kilkenny County Council Human Resources Department in consultation with the relevant Line Manager as they are not set centrally by the Department. Applicants will be required to submit scanned images of documentation to establish the applicant meets the following minimum eligibility criteria: CHARACTER Applicants shall be of good character. HEALTH Applicants must be in good health and not suffering from any illness that would render him/her unsuitable or unable to hold the position. For the purposes of satisfying the requirement as to health it will be necessary for each successful applicant, before he/she is appointed, to undergo a medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner to be nominated by the local authority. If after undergoing the medical, you do not take up the post the cost of the medical must be refunded to the Council. QUALIFICATIONS Each applicant must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: (i) Hold a current full unendorsed Irish driving licence in Categories C or CE which you will be required to upload with the application form. JOB DESCRIPTION ROLE Kilkenny County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which temporary vacancies may be filled. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Successful applicants shall render to the Council such services as may be required from time to time by the Council during their period of temporary employment as Temporary Driver/Plant Operator and any other duties assigned to them. Duties of the Temporary Driver/Plant Operator B shall include: To Drive or Operate any item of plant machinery or vehicle owned or hired by Kilkenny County Council which he/she is competent to drive, as directed by the Machinery Yard Management. To accept the introduction of all new plant, equipment, digital software and machinery and to be flexible in the use of same. This includes but is not limited to Smart Devices such as phones and tablets. Once trained, are expected to use the ancillary equipment which is a functioning item of a vehicle or plant machinery where you are not the principal operator or driver. To power wash clean vehicles and plant machinery when required and to regularly check, clean and maintain the vehicle’s interior. Will be available for overtime work (mornings, evenings, weekends) if and when required by Kilkenny County Council. Carry out any other instructions which may be given from time to time by the Machinery Yard Management and/or nominated supervisory staff. Ensure that the Machinery Yard plant, equipment and premises are always left in a safe, secure, and orderly state. Report to the Machinery Yard Technical Services Supervisor all accidents and incidents and complete relevant report forms, as soon as practicable. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and that required Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times. Maintain accurate and complete records of all tasks are carried out in hard copy and/or electronic format. Attend and participate in training provided by Kilkenny County Council. Complete driver Vehicle Walk around Inspections, on either hard copy or digital format as instructed and report any defects to the Workshop Foreman. PARTICULARS OF OFFICE TYPE OF POST To form a panel from which temporary contract posts may be filled. SALARY Minimum of the appropriate scale of Driver/Plant Operator “B”, that is €795.51 per week. In accordance with EL02/2011 persons who are not serving Local Authority employees must be placed on the minimum of the scale. Where a person being appointed is a serving Local Authority employee normal starting pay rules will apply. SUPERANNUATION CONTRIBUTION Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 New members joining the public sector on or after 1 January 2013 will be required to join the Single Public Service Pension Scheme. It applies to all first time entrants to the Public Service as well as former public servants returning to the public sector after a break of more than 26 weeks. Your contributions will be made up of 3 percent of your gross pensionable remuneration and 3.5 percent of your net pensionable remuneration (your gross pensionable remuneration less twice the value of the Contributory State Pension). Your normal retirement age under this scheme is the same age at which you can claim the Contributory State Pension. The minimum age for receipt of this pension is Age 66. There is a compulsory retirement age of 70 years. Persons who commenced in Public Service Employment after 6 April 1995 and prior to 1 January 2013 Persons who became pensionable employees after 6 April 1995 and prior to 1 January 2013, without a break in employment, will join the Local Government (Superannuation) (Consolidation) Scheme 1998. Contributions are payable at the rate of 1.5 percent of your basic salary, 3.5 percent of basic salary less twice the value of the Contributory State Pension and a further 1.5 percent is payable for spouse and children’s contributions. Non officer grades pay a co ordinated contribution. Non New Entrants (those who became pensionable after 6 April 1995 and prior to 1 April 2004) have a minimum retirement age of 60 and a compulsory retirement age of 70. New Entrants (those who became pensionable after 1 April 2004 and prior to 1 January 2013) have a minimum retirement age of 65 with no compulsory retirement age. Persons who commenced in Public Service Employment before 6 April 1995 Their minimum retirement age is 60 and they have a compulsory retirement age of 70 as per Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government Circular Letter CL/2/2019. Contributions are 5 percent of basic salary and 1.5 percent of basic salary toward Widow’s and Orphan’s or Spouse and Children’s Scheme. PENSION ABATEMENT If the appointee was previously employed in the Civil Service or in the Public Service, please note that the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 (Section 52) includes a provision which extends abatement of pension for all Civil and Public Servants who are re employed where a Public Service Pension is in payment. This provision to apply abatement across the wider public service came into effect on 1 November 2012. This may have pension implications for any person appointed to this position that is currently in receipt of a Civil or Public Service pension or has a preserved Civil or Public Service pension which will come into payment during his/her employment in this position.
