Location: TURAS Family & Community Services is a community-based service based in Galway City , with a satellite service in the Ballinasloe and Tuam area. The service provides supports to children whom have varying abilities. We are primarily a community based service and are looking to gradually expand the geographical areas, in where we operate satellite services from. The posts will be located in Galway City and surrounding areas. The Role: The Community Support Workers role is exciting and innovative. This support is an alternative form of respite for families. As a Community Support Worker, you will be assigned a caseload where you will be providing support to a number of children and their families. In this role, you will be required to work as part of a team, as well as on your own initiative, and become an advocate for each child and family you are supporting. The role will involve supporting children that use our services, to actively participate in their communities where possible, promote community integration, social inclusion and life skills development. In this role, there may be identified goals to focus your supports on, which will work towards the model of community and social inclusivity. There may also be identified goals around supporting the child to participate in leisure and recreational activities, or assisting them in socialising in group situations with their peers. The Community Support Worker role within Turas Family and Community services, can take the form of after school supports, school holiday supports and Saturday clubs. There may be duties around providing personal care and following behaviour support plans. As part of the role you will be liaising with members of the Children’s Disability Network Teams and adhering to Brothers of Charity Services Ireland-West region policies and procedures in how the service operates. All employees will be required to support individuals to lead a full and valued life, and have the needs of each child and family, at the forefront of how the service operates. Reporting/Responsible To: Family Support Coordinator/Team Leader Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Essential:  Minimum of 1year’s experience, supporting a person/individual with additional needs or supporting children in a professional setting.  A full driving licence (Class B) and use of your own vehicle.  Fluency in verbal and written English  Flexibility in working hours, evenings, Saturdays as required. Desirable:  A recognised qualification appropriate to the field of Disability services, or equivalent such as Special Needs Assistant qualification or Social Care is an advantage.  Have an understanding of or experience in supporting people with behaviours that challenge.  Some basic IT skills is also an advantage. Working Hours: All posts are 50 hours a fortnight based on a 14 day duty roster to include working days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure the provision of high quality services for each individual Annual Leave: 22 days pro-rata per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant salary scale (01/03/2025) - €33,699 x 11 increments - €46,190 (Max) pro- rata per annum.
