Killarney Rehabilitation unit is a 35 bed unit consisting of 31 rehabilitation beds, 2 palliative beds and 2 respite beds. The Rehabilitation unit has a bespoke therapy unit adjacent to the in-patient unit which includes a physiotherapy gym and a joint occupational therapy and speech and language therapy treatment room and kitchen. Patients that meet the defined admission criteria for the Rehabilitation unit are admitted for specified length of rehabilitation interventions, which is team and patient agreed. Patients participate in multidisciplinary rehabilitation interventions from a team consisting of the following disciplines: occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietitian, nursing, doctors. Sepsis Clinical Nurse Manager II
Sepsis Clinical Nurse Manager II Permanent Full time Overview of the Role The Sepsis Clinical Nurse Manager 11 will be responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of INEWS/PEWS/IMews and Sepsis programs at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, guiding the implementation of the associated National Clinical Guidelines within the hospital. The CNM 11 will work across all 4 programs of the hospital, including the paediatric department. The key responsibilities include increasing sepsis awareness through educational initiatives and awareness campaigns, implementing performance improvement programs, carrying out audits, reviewing audit feedback, using it to inform the education and roll-out processes, and representing the hospital at the IHA and national level. The post holder will act as a liaison between Nursing, and Medical Staff and relevant Healthcare Staff members to deliver effective evidence-based care, using resources efficiently to achieve the best possible outcomes. They will co-ordinate and deliver training to staff in the management of sepsis, anaphylaxis training, medical emergency scenario training and Irish National Early Warning Score (INEWS) training and IMEWS/PEWS as required. The post holder will review management and escalation processes for patients within the NRH and will sit on the Deteriorating Patient Committee, INEWS/Sepsis Subgroup liaising closely with various other stakeholders with the NRH and HSE. Qualifications: The candidate must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office, possess: Are registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) Have at least 5 years relevant post registration nursing experience. Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development. Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft windows packages in particular Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook. Experience of delivering training programmes is required Experience in the Assessment, Management and Escalation Protocols required in the Management of Deteriorating Patients. Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Senior Occupational Therapist, General Medicine
The senior occupational therapist will have responsibility for the provision of specialised inpatient +/- outpatient (where applicable) occupational therapy service for the General Medicine Service. The therapist will work in this clinical area encompassing the development of the General Medicine Service which encompasses the following specialities; acute medicine, Oncology, haematology, Cardiology, Gastrointestinal, Metabolic Disease, dermatology, infectious disease, respiratory, renal and palliative care. Clinical input may be required into other speciality services from time to time or in offsite Mater facility. The senior therapist will determine a discharge plan and appropriate follow-up arrangements with relevant services. The senior therapist will participate in the management of the occupational therapy service as a member of the senior occupational therapy team in collaboration with the occupational therapy manager. The senior therapist will analyse service demands and develop the service with other HSCP members in line with evolving requirements. The senior therapist will undertake highly skilled and specialised assessment and intervention as part of the occupational therapy process.
