Mallow General Hospital (MGH) is a Model 2 hospital as defined by the Acute Medicine Programme. MGH serves a population of North Cork and surrounding area with a population of circa 90,000. Mallow General Hospital is a 95 bed Acute General Hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and day patient services. The services provided in the hospital include general medicine, cardiology, respiratory, gerontology, gastroenterology, dermatology and palliative care. Inpatient medical activity is supported by a Medical Assessment Unit and a High Dependency Unit. Mallow General Hospital also provides elective Day Surgery, and Endoscopy. There is an Injuries Unit, Outpatients Department, Physiotherapy and Radiology department. Specialist nursing includes Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes, and Tissue Viability, Care of the Older Adult, Haemovigilance and Infection Control. Surgical planned procedures include General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Vascular (open, laser/radio frequency) and Dental Special Needs Adult. A Pre-Assessment Clinic supports the surgical day service. The hospital is currently undergoing major infrastructural development with new inpatient accommodation under construction. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they have been operational since 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Health Regions will enable and empower staff to provide services that are: South/South West Hospital Group and Cork Kerry Community Healthcare became part of HSE South West health region on 3rd March 2025 and the transition to the new structures will continue throughout 2026. Purpose of the Post The post of CNM 2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical and decontamination areas. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership. The post holder will lead and coordinate decontamination practices within the endoscopy unit in accordance with HSE Standards and Recommended Practices. The CNM2 will play a central role in shaping the improvement of endoscopy services for patients and staff. The CNM2 will act as Nurse Lead for the JAG accreditation process. General Manager For Social Inclusion Services Incorporating The National Drug Treatment Centre And Addiction Services - NDT
The Role The General Manager will be a senior leader within the Integrated Health Area (IHA) structure, responsible for enabling integrated care, driving service improvement, and overseeing strategic and operational programmes across the IHA. This post carries specific executive operational responsibility for Social Inclusion Services, the National Drug Treatment Centre (NDTC) and Addiction Services across Dublin South and Wicklow, ensuring high quality, safe, accredited and efficient operations aligned with the Draft National Drugs Strategy 2026-2029. The General Manager will also hold responsibility for NDTC laboratory governance, accreditation, quality assurance, and workforce planning for toxicology and pathology related services, in accordance with recognised laboratory management standards. The Person 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. (a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: I. Significant senior management experience within health, social care, or social inclusion services. And II. Demonstrated experience delivering complex service change and improvement programmes in a healthcare environment. And III. Extensive experience with performance management, service planning and cross functional collaboration. And IV. The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. 2.
