Post 2017 applicants must have achieved five O6 in the Leaving Certificate which must include Mathematics. Please note: If you do not meet the Maths criteria there is an Evening Maths course available to help applicants attain the required grade. A full award placed at Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (EQF 4) which includes proficiency in Mathematics. Have successfully completed an approved pre-apprenticeship training course in an engineering discipline and demonstrate a proficiency in Mathematics similar to O6 in Leaving Certificate. In the case where an applicant is 23 years or over (or employed in the OEM sector for 3 years) and does not meet the educational requirements specified above, they may apply through the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process.

Apprentice Mechanical Fitter
The Dublin Waste to Energy project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Dublin City Council and Covanta, a world leader in sustainable waste management and renewable energy solutions, to build, own and operate a new 600,000 metric tonne per year, 58 net megawatt Energy-from-Waste facility in Dublin. The facility will provide the Dublin region with a long-term sustainable and environmentally superior waste management solution, enabling it to divert post-recycled waste from landfills and become locally self-sufficient in managing waste, consistent with regional, national and EU waste policies. Apprentice This role is located in Dublin Ireland and will report to the Mechanical Team Lead. The apprentice Mechanical Fitter will serve as an integral member of the maintenance and engineering team in a energy from waste power plant. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of work, adhere to schedules and be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills. the successful candidate will also have good self-awareness, act decisively and be a complete team player. The Apprenticeship is SOLAS standards-based, consisting of 208 weeks / 4-year duration. Polymer Apprenticeship
MGS are part of a new industry – led Polymer Apprenticeship. The qualification at the end of this apprenticeship will be a Level 7 Degree BSc. in Polymer Processing Technology. This is a 3-year course in conjunction with TUS (Athlone IT) with 70% of the time spent “on the job” at MGS & 30% of the time spent in TUS (Athlone IT). This is a fantastic opportunity to progress within the company with MGS supporting both the application process and fee's during the course of the programme itself. Internal mentorship will be provided to the successful candidates with exposure to various areas within the technical space during training and development.
