Job Description Adult Education Officer with initial duties as Assistant Training Centre Manager General Information: The post is an integral part of the Further Education and Training (FET) senior management team and the duties assigned will encompass a broad range of responsibilities including but not limited to the following: • Effective leadership and management of staff performance, financial and other resources. • The efficient and effective delivery of agreed and appropriate services and programmes as required by our customers and stakeholders. • Delivery of targets established through the annual planning process, utilising both a strategic and collaborative approach. • Manage and oversee the maintenance, development and efficient operation of FET buildings, facilities and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety standards, and organisational policies. Duties and Responsibilities Participate and lead in the implementation of the local FET strategy, including the planning and budgeting process. Manage activity plans while adhering to budgets and achieving the key performance indicators agreed in the FET plan. Identify the training needs of the various client groups and manage the development of appropriate responses. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure integration of programmes and services across the FET spectrum. Assist in the selection and development of suitably qualified and competent staff to perform their assigned duties. Lead and manage an effective work team, communicate with and motivate staff, to meet the changing needs of the Education and Training Board internal and external environment. Ensure that training programmes are delivered in the most efficient and cost effective manner, within the regulatory framework of corporate governance and accounting practice. Liaise, as appropriate, with local economic interests, in the development and organisation of courses aimed at increasing the pool of skills available to employers and improving FET students’ access to employment locally. Establish and maintain effective internal and external communication/linkages with appropriate bodies, organisations and agencies including representing the Education and Training Board on boards and committees as appropriate. Promote continuous improvement and innovation. Promote the Education and Training Board’s FET provision and services as appropriate within the local community. Provide a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and regulations. Assist in the delivery of the SOLAS FET Strategy and also assist in the supervision and co-ordination of Planning & Funding (including PLSS and FARR), Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Corporate Governance. Deputise for the Training Services Manager when required and undertake such other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time. Carry out the lawful instructions of the Board and of the CE and fulfil all requisite duties, inclusive of those related to relevant property, equipment and assets of the Board. Undertake any other duties as required by the Director of FET and/or the Chief Executive or his/her delegated Officer. All the above duties and responsibilities to be carried out in consultation and with the approval of the manager, in a flexible manner and a spirit of teamwork with the other staff in the unit.
