It is an agency of the recently formed Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. SOLAS works in close collaboration with Education and Training Boards (ETBs) across Ireland on provision of high-quality further education and training, equipping learners with relevant skills and knowledge, and providing a pipeline of talent into employment and to the Irish economy and society. SOLAS is seeking to recruit temporary Project Assistant (Temp, 1 Year). Recruitment is primarily for the Apprenticeship Unit based in Castleforbes House, Dublin 1, to assist in the unit’s operational and administrative functions and contribute in a positive manner to the work of the Unit.. This is a temporary position for which the salary scale ranges from €27,966 to €52,279 per annum (inclusive of two long service increments) for a 37-hour week. Starting pay will be at the minimum point of the scale as per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current service in the Civil/Public service. TELECOMMUNICATIONS & DATA NETWORK TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP Apprenticeship Commences in January 2022 Closing Date for Applications: 12th December 2021 PRORAMME OVERVIEW The apprenticeship in Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering involves a 24-month apprenticeship contract with Circet, which incorporates both on-the-job and off-the-job elements. Over the lifetime of the apprenticeship a total of eight blocks, each of two weeks’ duration, will be spent attending class and practical laboratories at TU Dublin. In addition, during the on-the-job elements, a significant period of time will be spent in the form of work based learning with the employer in order to complete the Programme modules. Four modules will be completed in year 1 and four in year 2. WHO IS THE PROGRAMME SUITED TO? People seeking skilled employment often face a challenge that relevant work experience is a prerequisite for many jobs. But for many people, including school leavers, it is difficult to gain the required experience without being in the workplace. An apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for entry or advancement into a particular skilled career field. This two-year programme was developed in collaboration with the telecommunications industry and is designed to take a low skills entry level position to full occupational proficiency. Working under the supervision and guidance of some of the most experienced professionals in the country, apprentices will learn to hone the skills required to have a successful career in Circet. QUALIFICATION Higher Certificate in Engineering in Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering (Level 6) At the completion of the new Apprenticeship Programme, the apprentice will receive a QQI accredited Higher Certificate in Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering which will be a nationally recognised qualification.
