Purpose of the Post Provision of a Hospital Pharmacy Service Principal Duties and Responsibilities • The post holder will support the principle that care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree • Maintain throughout the Group’s awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities • Performance management systems are part of the role and you will be required to participate in the Group’s performance management admixtures including cytotoxic drugs if required • To carry out the pre-packaging of bulk preparations • To carry out medication top-ups for wards and departments • To ensure the receipt, checking and storage of goods received • To liaise with the Finance Department as required to ensure prompt and accurate processing of payments in relation to medication purchasing • To be responsible for stock control including ward stocks • To ensure the maintenance of standards of clinical hygiene within the pharmacy • To operate computers, automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and other technologies as required, including engaging with any new software/hardware implementations and associated training requirements • To ensure that all compatible medications are verified through the national pathway in compliance with Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) legislation • To attend continuing education courses as deemed advisable/necessary by the Pharmacist Executive Manager or departmental head in consultation with the HR Department • To agree duty and annual leave rosters with Supervisor • To demonstrate flexibility in rostering to account for changes in demand on departmental services • To be involved in checking processes in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures • To assist in the training of new staff in accordance with departmental procedures • To liaise with management and staff in matters of departmental procedure as or when problems arise • To make recommendations to the Supervisor as to how methods and procedures can be improved • To observe and report to the Supervisor any unusual situations, occurrences, conditions or complaints including those related to drugs, drug requests, drug usage or security within the pharmacy or hospital • To advise the Supervisor of malfunctioning or unsafe equipment in the pharmacy • To report any incidents, near misses or dangerous occurrences via the NIMS reporting pathway • To ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the provisions of the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act • Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc. • To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service KPI’s • The identification and development of Key Performance Working Week The standard weekly working hours of attendance for your grade are 35 hours per week. Your normal weekly working hours are 35 hours. The role supports the full production cycle from log intake through to finished timber products, ensuring machinery is operated effectively, quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved. About Fingal County Council Fingal is a highly attractive place to live, work, visit and do business. It comprises a geographical area of 450 sq. km stretching from Balbriggan in the north, to Blanchardstown in the west and to Howth in the east. The area is defined by the diversity of its landscape and settlement patterns with rural, urban and suburban locations all rolled into one county. There is 88 kms of coastline, three large protected estuaries and salt marsh habitats and 13 major beaches. Fingal County Council is one of the county’s major local employers and currently employs approximately 1,600 staff. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of the provision of physical and social infrastructure, housing, economic and tourism development, community development, recreation and amenity services and the management of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The role of the County Council as provided for in law is to represent, lead and serve the communities of Fingal. 1. The Role Fingal County Council is currently seeking to appoint a Chief Technician for the Planning and Development Directorate. This directorate is responsible for promoting positive and sustainable development across the county by implementing the County Development Plan, making decisions on planning applications, and ensuring compliance with planning legislation and granted permissions. Technicians in the Planning and Development Department come from a variety of disciplines including Geo-Surveying, Engineering, Geo-Spatial, Architectural and Construction Studies. Qualifications and Requirements of the Post CHARACTER Each candidate must be of good character. HEALTH Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, ETC. The Selection Process Fingal County Council reserves the right to shortlist applications, if required. The number of persons to be invited, in these circumstances, to interview shall be determined by the local authority from time to time, having regard to the likely number of vacancies to be filled. The selection process is not concluded until such time as references have been sought and clearance checks, i.e. Garda vetting, occupational health, verification of education qualifications, etc., have been carried out to the satisfaction of the Council. Particulars of Employment The employment is whole time, permanent and pensionable. Persons who become pensionable employees of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children). Persons who become pensionable employees of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class D rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 5% of their pensionable remuneration. All persons who become pensionable employees of a local authority will be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children’s Contributory Pension) Scheme to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration in accordance with the terms of the Scheme.
