Candidate/Clinical Nurse Specialist Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Disease Unit · 1.0WTE (37.5 hours) · Indefinite Duration · H.S.E. funded · Based in the Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Disease Unit (RMDU) Harold’s Cross The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist post is to: Deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will focus on both in-patient and out-patient patient groups in RMDU and will: · Facilitate the provision of high quality RMDU services by providing direct support and advice to patients and nursing staff · Provide education and support to nursing staff and patients · Manage a caseload within RMDU Inpatient and Outpatient setting · Take part in planning and delivering research-based education and training, developing policies and procedures · Provide support with day patients · Ensure the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care by prioritising and using research and audit in practice · Provide support and mentoring to staff in relation to professional development with view to professional portfolio development · Work with the Advanced Nurse Practitioners in RMDU The successful candidate will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary Rheumatology team providing a patient / client centered quality service to patients / clients and this specialist practice will encompass a major clinical focus which comprises assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care given to patients / clients and their families. Essential Requirements Qualifications: · Be a registered nurse on the live Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) · Be on the active Register in the Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register for which the application is being made or be eligible to register in the Division of nursing And Midwifery Board of Ireland register for which the application is being made. In exceptional circumstances which must be individually appraised, this criterion may not apply · Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, professional and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Have the competence to exercise higher levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in the clinical area above that expected of the nurse working at primary practice level · A minimum of 1 years’ post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in the division in which the application is being made · Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience or and aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in the specialist areas of Rheumatology or Chronic Disease / Rehabilitation · Possess a level 9 post registration Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic aware relevant to Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Disease Care prior to application, or in an area relevant to the area of specialist practice. OR · Be currently undertaking /be willing to undertake a level 9 post registration Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic award relevant to Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Disease Care within an agreed timeframe. Experience · A minimum of 1 years’ post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in the division in which the application is being made. · Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience or and aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in the specialist areas of Rheumatology or Chronic Disease / Rehabilitation. · Demonstrate competencies relevant to context of practice · Provide evidence of continued professional development and evidence of consistent updating of clinical skills and knowledge · Experience of active participation within and MDT. · Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role Desirable Requirements Qualifications · Management Training · Teaching qualification · Nurse / Midwife Medicinal Product Prescribing and Prescribing of Medical Ionising Radiation. · Experience in policy and procedure development · Experience with quality assurance audit and nursing research.
