Retained Firefighter

THE ROLE The role of the retained firefighter is primarily to • Save life and preserve endangered life • Protect property from damage by fire • Inform and educate awareness of safety Retained firefighters are on call to respond to emergencies. As well as responding to emergency calls, firefighters may also be involved in community fire safety initiatives. Although retained firefighters are part time, they are fully trained and capable of saving life and property to provide a comprehensive service to the community. When a call is received firefighters are required to respond immediately. Retained firefighters must be ready to drop whatever they are doing to become part of a team ready to respond safely and effectively to the emergency regardless of the time of day or night or the weather conditions. The Fire Service responds to emergency calls from the public primarily to prevent injury and protect life but also to prevent and restrict damage to property. Many emergency calls are not to fires but to road traffic accidents where casualties may be trapped in vehicles. The Fire Service may also be called to deal with chemical spillages and toxic emissions. Firefighters need to be able to use problem solving skills and initiative to resolve issues quickly and calmly. Firefighters also need to be able to deal sensitively and appropriately with members of the public when they are distressed, confused or obstructive. Firefighters are required to carry out routine checks as well as cleaning and maintaining all equipment and fire appliance to ensure they work properly when required during an emergency. Firefighters are required to participate and take part in the duties as required as part of the organisational response to Climate Action to promote and ensure capacity building, empowering change and delivering action. All new recruits undergo extensive initial training which includes a three week Recruit Induction course, a two week Breathing Apparatus Wearers Course and one week Compartment Fire Behaviour course. Thereafter all firefighters are required to undergo a continuous development programme by attending lectures, exercises, practical courses and other forms of training to maintain competency levels. Firefighters are expected to take responsibility for developing their own skills and for ensuring that their fitness levels are maintained as the work of a firefighter can be demanding both physically and psychologically DUTIES OF THE POSITION A Firefighter shall be required to attend at fires and other emergencies, drills, displays and other duties at such times and for such periods as required by the County Council. Failure to respond promptly to fire or other emergency calls will be addressed through the Local Authority disciplinary procedure. Each Firefighter who attends for Fire Brigade service must be prepared to accept the work entailed and to fulfil to the best of their ability their duty as a Firefighter in the saving of life, saving of property and the fighting of fires or other such emergencies. Every Firefighter must comply with the County Council Crew Management Arrangements for Retained Firefighters. Firefighters who are on standby during fires or other incidents shall remain at the Station and perform such duties as may be assigned by the Station Officer from time to time during the callout. Firefighters shall ensure that the Fire Station is kept clean and tidy at all times. Firefighting equipment shall be kept clean, maintained properly and stowed away in a safe manner. Firefighters are required to adhere to and co operate with all National and Local Agreements pertaining to the Fire Services. Firefighters will be required to attend Training Courses as directed. Firefighters must undertake driving duties as required. Comply with all organisational policies, procedures and legislation. Participate and take part in the duties as required as part of the organisational response to Climate Action to promote and ensure capacity building, empowering change and delivering action. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. A birth certificate must be submitted to the County Council as proof of age before a person is engaged as a recruit. Character Applicants must be of good character and must not at any time bring the County Council and Fire Brigade into disrepute. The Council may make whatever enquiries it considers necessary to satisfy this condition. The Role: The Community Climate Action Officer within Leitrim County Council will support our role in leading on climate action, with the successful candidate playing a key role in advocating for climate action and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to work with local communities to promote local positive climate action as supported by the Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP). The Community Climate Action Officer will be involved with assisting and motivating communities, PPNs or businesses to identify relevant projects/initiatives, which will contribute to meeting Ireland’s climate targets and building awareness of the climate impact. The Community Climate Action Officer will be required to initiate expressions of interest for funding, evaluate the eligibility of applications and play a key role in partnering with communities / PPNs whose projects were successful in receiving funding. The development of progress reports and overseeing expenditure are also key components of the role. The Community Climate Action Officer will also support implementation of the Leitrim Climate Action Plan and actions mobilising community climate action (outside of the CCAP). They will also be the point of contact for Leitrim County Council on the GAA Green Clubs Programme. The Community Climate Action Officer will be required to work with other departments within the Council, to build relationships with citizens in the community, publicise events, make people aware of new initiatives and provide information that may be required to fully avail of the Council’s wide range of services in relation to climate action. The successful candidate will have the ability, drive and vision to engage and support the public to take climate action. Principal Terms and Conditions: The position is wholetime, temporary and pensionable and the appointment will be on the basis of a Fixed Term Contract of Employment to 31st December 2027, subject to a probationary period of 6 months. PARTICULARS OF EMPLOYMENT THE POST The post is Biodiversity Officer. This is a pensionable whole-time position on the basis of a 35 hour, 5 day week. DUTIES The duties of the employment are to give to: (a) Sligo County Council under the control of the Chief Executive or his nominee and (b) To any other local authority or body with which an agreement has been made by the local authority. Main Responsibilities The principal duties of the post may include, but are not limited to the following: • Manage and implement Sligo County Council’s Biodiversity Plan 2025–2030, in parallel with the County Sligo Heritage Plan and with cross referencing to the County Sligo Climate Adaptation Strategy. • Lead the County Sligo Biodiversity Forum/Working Group within the wider context of Sligo Heritage Forum. • Facilitate the implementation of Government initiatives in relation to biodiversity and national plans and programmes that are developed to support the implementation of the National Biodiversity Plan, such as the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. • Advise Sligo County Council on biodiversity related issues and the Authority’s obligations in relation to protecting biodiversity. • Work with Sligo County Council staff to assist in advancing the restoration of biodiversity and ecosystem services within County Sligo. • Assist Sligo County Council departments in integrating biodiversity into their actions and policies, for example through training and supporting information dissemination. • Promote new biodiversity initiatives based on best conservation practice. • Work with Sligo County Council led projects and provide advice to colleagues on the management of ecological resources such as urban woodlands, wetlands, parks, verges, wild flora grasslands and open areas in a biodiversity-friendly manner. • Raise awareness of biodiversity, natural capital and ecosystems services and issues affecting biodiversity in County Sligo (including climate change) with a broad range of groups. • Commission biodiversity related research, audits and surveys and provide data obtained to the National Biodiversity Data Centre (NBDC) and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in a suitable format for reporting purposes. • Apply for and deliver biodiversity projects under Heritage Council funding and National Biodiversity Action Plan and other available sources of funding. • Work closely with the County Heritage Officer on a programme of public engagement for biodiversity through Field Clubs, Environmental Groups/NGOs, National Heritage Week, National Biodiversity Week, Summer Schools and other public events. • Be an active participant/member in the County Heritage Forum, Creative Ireland Team and Sligo County Council’s Climate Action Team. • To facilitate and co-ordinate the implementation of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan taking consideration of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. • To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility appropriate to the post, as may be required or assigned, from time to time. • To take instructions from and report to an appropriate Officer as may be assigned by the Council. SALARY The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. PROBATION There shall be period after such employment takes effect during which the person appointed will hold the post on probation. Such period shall be six months commencing on the first day of service but the Chief Executive may at their discretion extend such period. Such person shall cease to hold the post at the end of the period of probation or extended period of probation unless, during such period or extended period, the service of such person is certified as satisfactory. RETIREMENT AGE For appointees who are deemed to be “new entrants” as defined in the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2004, there is no compulsory retirement age. For appointees entering the Single Public Service Scheme, compulsory retirement age will be 70. For appointees covered under the provisions of the Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Bill 2018, compulsory retirement age will be 70. RESIDENCE Holders of the post shall reside in the district in which their duties are to be performed or within a reasonable distance thereof. CHARACTER: Each candidate must be of good character. The County Council may make whatever enquiries it considers necessary to satisfy this condition.  AGE: A Retained Fire-fighter must be not less than 18 and must be under 55 years on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving application forms occurs. A birth certificate must be submitted to Laois County Council as proof of age. RETIREMENT : On reaching 55 years of age, or sooner if found medically or physically unfit to continue, a part-time Fire-fighter shall be required to retire. However, such Fire-fighter have the option to continue working up to age 60 subject to compulsory annual medical assessment measured against agreed standards. PROBATION: From the date of commencement as part-time Fire-fighter there shall be a period of ten months during which he/she shall be on probation. During this period he/she shall be required, when requested by the Chief Fire Officer, to undergo and successfully complete a Recruits Induction Course and a Breathing apparatus Wearers Course. Such period of ten months may be extended at the absolute discretion of the County Council. The part-time Fire-fighter shall cease to be employed at the end of the period of probation unless the County Council is satisfied that he/she has been satisfactory in all respects. You will also be required to undergo Heavy Goods Vehicle driver training (Class C licence) & successfully pass the appropriate driving test. HEALTH: Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Eyesight levels should be uncorrected visual acuity of 6/9, 6/12 or better. (Candidates should check with an optician to ascertain if eligible to avoid unnecessary interviews and expense prior to applying for the position). MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Before recruitment a candidate must undergo and pass health and fitness testsin accordance with “An Occupational Health System for members of the retained Fire Service as issued by the Local Government Management Services Board July 2005, in order to qualify for the post. (Refer to enclosed Firefighter Selection Tests). During the period of employment the person appointed must participate in the Occupational Health Systems as laid down in “An Occupation Health system for members of the Retained Fire Service” as issued by the Local Government Management Services Board July 2005. He/she will co-operate with Laois County Council in arrangements to this end. A Firefighter who, in the opinion of the Medical Advisor conducting the Occupational Health system, is unsuitable for operational duties as a Firefighter will be required to resign. EDUCATION AND SUITABILITY: A candidate must have attained a suitable level of education to enable him/her to undergo successfully the appropriate training and to perform satisfactorily as a part-time Firefighter. DRIVING LICENCE: On date of appointment the successful candidate must hold a full clean driving licence in respect of Category B Vehicles or equivalent in the EU Model Driving Licence on the latest date for the receipt of completed applications. Candidates are also required prior to appointment to procure and maintain a Class C learner permit . In addition, the successful candidate must have access to a car as he/she may be required to travel to training courses in the course of his/her duties. DRILLS AND FURTHER TRAINING: A part-time Firefighter shall attend and participate in drills and shall undergo from time to time courses and further training, including Breathing Apparatus Training, minimum of 2 weeks, as required or deemed appropriate by the County Council. The location(s) of the training shall be decided by the County Council. Drills shall be held at such frequency as decided by the County Council in its absolute discretion. Adequate advance notice shall be given to Firefighters. RESIDENCE: (a) The residence and place of normal work of each part-time Firefighter shall be within a distance from the Fire Station, acceptable to the Fire Authority. (As a rough guide a maximum distance of 1½ miles from the Fire Station). If at any time his/her availability is affected by change of work or any other reasons, he/she will be required to resign. (b)            A part-time Firefighter shall be required to report for duty to the fire station in its present location or in the event of change of location, to such new locations that may be decided by the Fire Authority. Changes in the location of a fire station will not result in payment of disturbance money or other compensation. AVAILABILITY: Written evidence from the employer as to availability must be provided and the County Council, in its sole discretion, shall decide as to whether the availability as so evidenced is acceptable. Self-employed must also provide written evidence as to availability. Such written evidence must cover a candidate’s availability on recruitment for fire and other calls, drills, training and such other duties which the part-time Firefighter may be required by the County Council to perform. If the County Council deems a part-time Firefighter’s attendance to be unsatisfactory, it may terminate his/her service. RECRUITMENT : 1.       Applicants will be required to attend for interview at their own expense . 2.       Candidates will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy test as part of the recruitment process. 3.       The interview board will recommend a panel of suitable applicants and further vacancies may be filled from the panel. 4.       Applicants will be required to undergo Garda Vetting procedure DUTIES: (a) Each part-time Firefighter shall be required to attend at fires and other emergencies, drills, displays etc, at such times and for such periods as required by the Authority. (b)    Each part-time Firefighter shall operate in accordance with such rostering arrangements as exist, or as may be arranged by the Fire Authority, from time to time, and shall attend with due promptness fire and other calls, emergencies and duties in any part of County Laois and in the area of any other Fire Authority as required by the County Council. Firefighters may be contacted via smart phone and shall participate in any online crew availability systems adopted by the Fire Authority. (c)     A part-time Firefighter, as and when required, shall perform such duties as are assigned to him/her from time to time. Failure to respond promptly to fire or other calls shall at the discretion of the County Council, result in termination of service. CLOTHING ETC . While on duty, part-time Firefighter shall use the clothing and personal equipment provided by the Council and such clothing and equipment shall be left in the Station immediately after the cessation of duty. Part-time Firefighter may not use such clothing and equipment save while on duty. GRIEVANCE AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE : The terms of the County Council’s Grievance and Disciplinary procedure shall apply to part-time Fire-fighters. EDUCATION Firefighters must have attained a satisfactory level of education to enable them to perform satisfactorily as a Firefighter and to successfully undergo the appropriate training. HEALTH A Firefighter shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Each applicant must be free from any defect or disease which would render him or her unsuitable to hold the office. An operational Firefighter is required to maintain an appropriate level of physical fitness. DRIVERS LICENCE A recruit Firefighter shall possess a valid full current Category B Driving Licence at the time of applying for the post and ideally a Category C Driving Licence for Heavy Goods Vehicle with up to eight passengers. All newly appointed Retained Firefighters will be required to attain a Category C Driving Licence. Firefighters will co-operate with further Driver Training and will be required to drive fire service vehicles if operationally needed. Failure to attain a Category C licence within the probationary year may result in termination of employment. If a Firefighter has their licence suspended or removed for any reason, they must immediately inform the County Council and it shall be dealt with through the Council’s disciplinary procedure and may result in termination of service at the absolute discretion of the County Council. GARDA VETTING The successful candidate will be subject to the Garda Vetting Procedures in line with the provisions of the National Vetting Bureau Children and Vulnerable Persons Act 2012 to 2016 as appropriate or any subsequent amendments to the legislation mentioned in advance of appointment and on a periodic basis thereafter for the duration of their employment. RESIDENCE Persons appointed must live and work within a maximum of 8 minutes travel time from the designated Fire Station based on Global Positioning System navigation planner such as Google Maps or similar as determined by Kilkenny County Council to allow them to respond for the duration of their employment as a Firefighter. The Council retains the right to request further evidence if required for verification of place of residence and location of employment. A Firefighter shall notify the County Council in writing of any subsequent changes of residence or place of employment. A change of residence or place of employment that would place the Firefighter outside these limits will mean automatic termination of employment. The Council will check this prior to appointment and at periodic intervals after appointment. OTHER EMPLOYMENT Written evidence must be provided from the employer as to availability prior to appointment and the County Council in its sole discretion shall decide whether the availability as provided is acceptable. If the Firefighter's primary employer subsequently changes their conditions of employment and does not allow the Firefighter to attend fire calls or drills during working hours, employment will be terminated. Self-employed candidates must also provide written evidence as to availability prior to appointment. Such written evidence must cover availability for initial training and for fire and other calls, drills, training and such duties which the Firefighter may be required by the County Council to perform. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES OF THE ROLE SHALL INCLUDE A Firefighter shall be required to attend at fires and other emergencies, drills, displays and other duties at such times and for such periods as required by the County Council. Failure to respond promptly to fire or other emergency calls will be addressed through the Local Authority’s disciplinary procedure. Firefighters shall be available and capable at all times when required for attendance at fires or other incident types. Each Firefighter who attends for Fire Brigade service must be prepared to accept the work entailed and to fulfil to the best of their ability their duty as a Firefighter in the saving of life, saving of property and the fighting of fires or other emergencies. Every Firefighter must comply with Kilkenny County Council’s Crew Management Arrangements for Retained Firefighters. Firefighters who are on standby during fires or other incidents shall remain at the Station and perform such duties as may be assigned by the Station Officer from time to time during the callout. When required a Firefighter will substitute for any other Firefighter absent through sickness, annual leave or any other reason. Firefighters shall ensure that the Fire Station is kept clean and tidy at all times. Firefighting equipment shall be kept clean, inspected, tested and maintained properly and stowed away in a safe manner. Firefighters are required to adhere to and co-operate with all National and Local Agreements pertaining to the Fire Services. Firefighters will be required to attend Training Courses as directed. Firefighters must undertake driving duties as required. Comply with all organisational policies, procedures and legislation. Firefighters shall be responsible for items of personal equipment issued to them in connection with their employment. Each Firefighter shall carry a Fire Brigade pocket alerter at all times and it shall be their responsibility to ensure that it is kept in proper working order. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. PARTICULARS OF OFFICE TYPE OF POST To form a panel from which relevant vacancies may be filled. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT EMPLOYMENT The employment is part time and pensionable. The initial employment will be for a probationary period of one year and may be extended if required. RETIREMENT A Firefighter shall retire upon attaining age of 55 years, or where the Firefighter wishes to serve beyond that age and the Fire Authority is satisfied that the Firefighter is medically fit to continue, but not beyond attaining the age of 62 years. A retained Firefighter shall retire upon attaining the age of 55 years. Where they wish to serve beyond that age and are medically fit, they may continue but not beyond 62 years. Where a retained Firefighter is declared not medically fit, they shall retire. Retained Firefighters are required to apply for an extension six months in advance of each birthday where an extension is sought. Any change in medical condition must be notified. HEALTH A Firefighter shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Medical examination shall be required before recruitment. The County Council will nominate medical examiners. The candidate must comply with remedial requirements at their own expense. An operational Firefighter shall agree to participate in the Occupational Health Scheme, undergo medical examinations as required, and attend examinations in accordance with frequency set by the scheme. PROBATION Before appointment a recruit shall attend and successfully complete the Firefighter Skills Training Course. Recruit Firefighters will undergo and complete recruit training programmes during probation including Firefighting Skills Course, Breathing Apparatus Course, Category C Driving Licence, Compartment Fire Behaviour Course and any other course required. Training fees will be paid at the current hourly rate. Failure to complete courses will result in termination of employment. Probation shall be 12 months and may be extended. Confirmation depends on satisfactory performance. ANNUAL LEAVE Annual leave will be in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. A Firefighter is entitled to a maximum of 4 working weeks. Payment for annual leave will be 8 percent of earnings. Leave must comply with Crew Management Arrangements. Approval is subject to minimum crewing levels. SAFETY HEALTH AND WELFARE Kilkenny County Council is committed to protecting safety, health and welfare. Relief School Warden

SECTION 1 THE ROLE Each local authority can arrange with An Garda Siochana for School Traffic Wardens to patrol places where school children cross public roads. The school traffic warden’s role is to ensure that primary school children cross public roads safely on their way to and from school. The Gardaí and School Traffic Wardens are the only officials in Ireland who have the authority to stop other vehicles on public roads. The law governing the appointment of School Traffic Wardens is the Road Traffic Act 1961 Section 96. School Traffic Wardens usually work in the mornings at lunchtime and in the evenings when children are most likely to cross the road to go to or from school. School Traffic Wardens wear a distinctive uniform a high visibility coat and hat. They must also carry a distinctive sign a white disc with a red border and the word Stop in the centre. By displaying this sign the school traffic warden has the power to stop the traffic to enable schoolchildren to cross the road in safety. Traffic must remain stopped as long as the warden displays the sign. SECTION 2 DUTIES The duties shall be such as may be assigned to the officer from time to time by the local authority. These duties may include Reporting for duty promptly at the specified times and locations assigned under the direction of the Supervisor. The Warden must operate strictly in accordance with the instructions for School Wardens as per Garda Cork County Council training at all times. The person employed will be required to perform assigned duties exercising a duty of care in the interest of safety of oneself fellow employees and the general public at all times in compliance with Cork County Council’s Health and Safety Management System. Working in a safe manner in full compliance with the relevant safety legislation and construction regulations will be the primary responsibility of all School Wardens. The school warden will use the statutory uniform and equipment provided for the safety of yourself children and all other members of the public especially when stopping traffic on the public roadway. This requires carrying of the official Stop sign at all times and to ensure that the uniform is kept in a clean neat condition. Maintain control over children who are awaiting your instructions to cross. If the Warden has any trouble in controlling or encounter disobedience by the children they should inform the Principal of the school concerned. Any disobedience by traffic in general should be reported forthwith to the Gardaí. The Warden should never break up organised convoys wedding funerals parades or hold up fire appliances or ambulances for the purpose of allowing children to cross but wait for suitable opportunities when they have passed. Report any problems or difficulties to the Local Municipal District Roads and Engineering Offices. All accidents at the crossing point involving the Warden in the operation of his or her duties must be reported immediately after the duty period by telephone to the Local Municipal District Roads and Engineering Offices. All relevant details must be recorded including car make model registration number name of drivers pedestrians involved time and date of accident. The names addresses of any witnesses must be recorded also and a written report is to be submitted within the following 3 days. The Warden must not attempt to apportion blame to any person nor admit liability on his or her or the Council’s own part. Any changes made by the school to class times which affect duty periods must be notified to the Local Municipal District Roads and Engineering Offices. SECTION 3 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA QUALIFICATIONS Character Each candidate must be of good character. Health Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. The Council reserves the right to retire a Warden who in the opinion of the Council’s medical advisor is medically unsuitable to discharge duties effectively due to age or infirmity. Sick leave does not apply to this part time employment however depending on the number of hours worked a warden may be entitled to claim Disability Benefit from the Department of Social Welfare. The local authority shall require person to whom an appointment is offered to take up such appointment within a period of not more than one month and if they fail to take up the appointment within such period or such longer period as the local authority in its absolute discretion may determine the local authority shall not appoint them. SECTION 5 SALARY The wage for the post is €19.46 basic per hour. Payment will not be made in respect of normal school holiday periods i.e. summer Christmas or Easter or other. The wage shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. Holders of the office shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies payable to or received by them by virtue of their office or in respect of any services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. The contract may be terminated at any time subject to normal legal requirements. SECTION 6 LOCATION OF POST The person appointed will provide cover as required for St John the Baptist National School Midleton Bun Scoil Mhuire Youghal Killeagh National School Youghal St Colmans National School Cloyne Scoil Iosagain National School Upper Aghada Gaelscoil Chorain National School Youghal The initial Relief School Warden position to be filled will be based in Midleton however any panel formed may be used to fill any future vacancies for Relief School Warden East Cork Municipal District that may arise during the lifetime of the panel e.g. Aghada Castlemartyr Cloyne Midleton Youghal. Cork County Council reserves the right to assign you to any department premises or district in use by the Council now or in the future. Changes in location of employment will not result in payment of disturbance money or compensation. The person appointed will be required to provide him or herself at his or her own expense with the necessary mode of travel to and from work. Holders of the office shall reside in the Municipal District in which their duties are to be performed or within a reasonable distance thereof. SECTION 7 WORKING HOURS The Warden will be required to operate punctually at all times when children are crossing. The hours of work will be determined by the Principal of the school concerned. Please note that times are subject to change at the Council’s discretion. Hours of duty as per the relevant school or as required. SECTION 8 ANNUAL LEAVE Annual leave will if applicable be in accordance with the terms of the Holidays Employees Act 1973 as amended by the Workers Protection Regular Part Time Employees Act 1991. The Council will determine the times at which annual leave may be taken having regard to the absolute priority of having the school crossing operated while children are attending school. For those who are not entitled to annual leave the same criteria will apply to unpaid leave of absence. SECTION 9 GARDA VETTING Successful candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting in advance of appointment to the post. SECTION 10 ELIGIBILITY TO WORK IN IRELAND In order to work in Ireland a non EEA National unless exempted must hold a valid Employment Permit. There are 28 elected members, approximately 990 staff and an annual operating budget of €204 million in 2026. Clare County Council provides a diverse range of services across a large geographic area. Clare County Council will, following the interview process, form a panel for the post of Assistant Planner from which future relevant vacancies may be filled subject to sanction approval from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. This panel will exist for 12 months and may be extended for a further period of 6-12 months at the discretion of the Chief Executive. An Assistant Planner is responsible for working as part of a multi-disciplinary team implementing programmes of work in the Planning Department and for providing a range of planning and related services. The Assistant Planner will be required to work closely with elected Councillors to deliver the full range of services and implement local policy decisions. The Assistant Planner will report to the Executive Planner and/or the Senior Executive Planner and/or any other employee nominated by the Chief Executive.
