The post holder will actively participate in the Nursing Governance and Management structure of the organisation, support cover for the Senior Nursing Management team across the service, act up for the Director of Nursing in his/ her absence if and when required and undertake other relevant duties as may be determined from time to time by the Director of Nursing or other designated officer. He/ She will have specialist knowledge encompassing microbiology, immunology, and epidemiology, practices to advise and coordinate infection, prevention and control principles throughout the organisation. Eligibility Criteria Candidates must at the latest date of application: 1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc a) i) Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division or other divisions as relevant to the specific service of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) And ii) Have at least 7 years post registration experience of which 3 must be in the speciality of infection prevention & control at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2/Clinical Midwife Manager 2/Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Midwife Specialist. And iii) Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher in Infection Prevention & Control. And iv) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development. And b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. 2. Annual registration i) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann). And ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). 3. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 4. No. NUIG-RES 121-22 Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Mechanical Engineering department at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded through the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) research centre LERO, and is available from 01/08/2022 to the contract end date of 01/06/2023. This position is part of the SimuLimb project, which aims to create, deploy, and clinically evaluate, an open source experimental and computational framework for automated prosthetic socket design. The project features the acquisition of clinical data, such as limb shape and tissue mechanical properties, and to use this data in a computational framework for socket design. Next sockets are 3D printed and tested and clinically evaluated. Job Description: The successful candidate will work within the SimuLimb project and focus on software and hardware needed for the experimental data acquisition. In particular the successful candidate will develop and deploy an open hardware 3D digital image correlation system to capture limb shape and tissue deformation. These measurements allow other members of the research team to computationally design optimal prosthetic sockets. Once manufactured the sockets are tested at a local prosthetics clinic. Furthermore, to facilitate socket evaluation, the successful candidate will develop a skin pressure sensor system. Duties: Salary : €39,523 per annum pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply).  Start date : Position is available from August 2022 Continuing Professional Development/Training : Researchers at NUI Galway are encouraged to avail of a range of training and development opportunities designed to support their personal career development plans.
