Recycling Centre Attendant
Location: Armagh, Keady, Markethill, Tandragee, Banbridge, Dromore, Rathfriland, Fairgreen, Newline (may be required to work across the Borough). Salary: Scale 3, SCP 7 – £13.26 per hour (paid one month in arrears). Hours: Casual, as and when required . Hours will vary according to operational needs. Regular hours are not guaranteed. Duration: Casual contract. Main Duties & Responsibilities Act as a keyholder, responsible for site security, opening, and closing. Comply with all Health & Safety policies and safe working systems. Assist and direct members of the public to deposit materials correctly in line with Council recycling policies. Maintain the site in a clean and tidy condition. Keep accurate records of skip/container usage and removal of recycled materials. Operate Council charging systems for trade waste. Organise and direct work of casual, temporary, or agency staff as required. Carry out minor site maintenance tasks. Receive and organise handling/storage of special wastes (e.g., fridges, batteries, oils). Organise collection of recycling and reusable items. Operate compactors to minimise contamination. Follow all legislation relating to hazardous materials. Ensure unauthorised persons do not remove materials from site. Operate plant, machinery, vehicles, and tools; report defects promptly. Load/unload vehicles (e.g., promotional/stores items). Distribute home composters, caddy liners, and maintain stock records. Clean and maintain issued tools/equipment. Wear PPE and use equipment safely at all times. Complete daily forms (e.g., check sheets, diary). Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately. Liaise with Line Manager and colleagues to ensure safe, effective site operations. Take responsibility for personal safety, colleagues, and the public. Provide high levels of customer service in line with Council policy. Cover Supervisor duties on a rotational basis when required. The Maintenance and Process Manager is responsible for managing reactive & preventive maintenance at site both internal teams, contractors, 3rd party maintenance. It plans and oversees all repair and installation activities. It ensures compliance with maintenance processes & procedures, maintenance schedules. It delivers on agreed KPI’s of plant availability, effectiveness and costs and in the deployment of best processes and practices. This role will report to the Exports Manager and supports a Lead, Manager, and departmental peers by performing Logistics administration related activities. The role of Exports Co-Ordinator will execute Logistics processes and any associated processes, which will include external requests, internal generation, and requests from government agencies. Responsibilities • Manage and develop relationships with customers, suppliers, agents and Tirlán Staff. • Manage S&OP/Forecasting Process Internally and communicate to External Vendors • Manage the loading of rate cards in SAP and process payments • Support the picking team lead and ultimately Exports Manager. • Control, manage and maintain all exports and where appropriate import shipments. • Process all Tirlán customer orders via the VL10G report within SAP and deliver to agreed Incoterms and customer instructions. • Liaise with external parties to ensure loads are prepared and special instructions clearly communicated including Transport and Warehousing (Internal/3rd Party) ensuring loads dispatched on time and required delivery dates are achieved. • Be knowledgeable of all product groups within the scope of the picking team. • Be Flexible as the role may include other admin duties as required. • Support the preparation of documents as required based on the country of destination import requirements. • Liaise with Tirlán planning, quality, customer service or any other departments required to ensure product availability, product grading and credit availability. • Be knowledgeable of SAP and all S&D specific requirements. • Ensure all issues are escalated to the team lead. • Be an effective agent in the 3M process, striving to implement and learn new Excellence processes/tools where appropriate to enhance the services and processes.
