The Role: The Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure. The Asset Operations function has responsibility for operational and maintenance strategy, policies, planning and standard operating procedures for Water and Wastewater operations both nationally and regionally, ensuring that value for money and customer service is delivered. The O&M team is responsible for the national delivery of water and wastewater operational services through the operation, inspection, maintenance & repair of the water and wastewater treatment and network assets. The Regional O&M Team has a regional remit and is responsible for the regional operational management of water or wastewater treatment and network assets and the associated delivery of water/wastewater services through operational, maintenance and repair activities, while managing health and safety. The team is also responsible for the implementation of the regional operations, maintenance and repair plan that forms part of the national operations, maintenance and repair plan, contributing to the development, management, implementation and approval of same. Managing change and transformation activities is a key aspect of this team's responsibility particularly in the initial phases as the regional operations team splits into separate water and wastewater teams and ways of working are standardised. Reporting to the Water Treatment Maintenance Team Lead , the Water Treatment Maintenance Support Operative is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the water treatment asset base i.e. water abstraction points, water treatment (including secondary disinfection), water sludge treatment process and raw water transmission (pumping stations). Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities across the water treatment asset base • Responsible for undertaking a range of tasks which may include the routine maintenance of water treatment plants • Carry out maintenance and operational tasks on the water treatment assets (e.g. chemical reception, treatment tank cleaning, power washing, dewatering chambers, general site upkeep including landscaping, and assisting craft workers as required) • Responsible for reporting material consumption, ensuring efficient use of vehicles and equipment distribution throughout the area • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures that maximise quality of output, efficiency and support the adoption of processes • Liaise with the Water Treatment Maintenance Team Lead in the provision of maintenance and repair of water treatment assets as required • Act according to policy implementation and best practice standards including safe working practices • Monitoring driver compliance, completing vehicle inspections and recording and reporting any vehicle defects • Ensure all information is accurately recorded and promptly reported for audit purposes • Contribute to the development of water maintenance and repair plans and standard operating procedures as required • Confined space working will be required at times • Support in the coordination and participate in incident and emergency response as required, ensuring all health and safety standards are met • Participate in out of hours and standby working as required • Responsible for monitoring and reporting KPIs for processes over which they have ownership General Duties and Responsibilities: • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business. • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards. • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives. • Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation • Other duties as required. Wastewater Treatment Maintenance Senior Operative (Electrical)

Out of hours working will be required and appropriate overtime and standby rates will apply. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Support wastewater treatment maintenance services using electrical and/or mechanical craft skills. • Undertake a range of mechanical tasks such as cleaning, servicing, inspecting and testing replacement of worn parts or carrying out replacement of parts. This may include the routine maintenance or removal of pumps, pump component replacements, engines, valves, gearboxes, specialist electrical interface hydraulics and pneumatics, fitting, pipe disconnections, and mechanical devices (such as bearing’s couplings, brakes and safety guards). May be required to disconnect electrical power to carry out maintenance on mechanical equipment and reconnect or replace, where qualified to do so. • Undertake a range of electrical tasks, which may include fault finding and diagnosis, overload setting, maintenance to motors, motor starters, generators, lighting, variable speed drives, instrumentation and the calibration of process equipment, resetting of automation equipment, and variable speed drive parameter setting. • Ensure the personal safety of self and others by undertaking Risk Assessments and the subsequent selection of appropriate equipment and safe working practices. Grounds Maintenance Team Lead
MAIN PURPOSE OF POST 1. Supervise the small works team in horticulture, gardening and general grounds maintenance works in Council facilities, public parks, sports grounds and similar open spaces, to the standards required. 2. To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public. 3. Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements. 4. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 5. Supervise the team by giving instruction, assistance, support and training within your remit to team members and others in performance of duties and responsibilities with emphasis on Health and Safety. Includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, working at heights, ensuring adherence to risk assessments, method statements and where necessary, completing dynamic on-the-job risk assessments. Also assist in identifying training needs. 6. Contribute to the maximisation of productivity through the effective planning and organisation of manpower, plant and materials. 7. Responsible for ensuring that the team under their direction carry out grounds maintenance schedules in a timely manner. 8. Assist the supervisor to complete all necessary paperwork eg weekly timesheets, accident report forms, vehicle/plant log books, inspection records, work schedule, work schedules, memorial approvals, dynamic Risk Assessment, chemical applications etc. 9. Deputise for supervisor as necessary e.g. to cover holidays or short term absence. 10. Supervise and undertake a comprehensive range of multi-skilled practical tasks associated with the daily maintenance of grounds, preparation and marking out all sports/playing surfaces using appropriate methods and equipment. In the absence of the Supervisor, order and quantify appropriate materials when required. 11. Ensure grass is cut to specified standards in both sports and non-sports locations. 12. Operate grounds maintenance machinery such as ride-on mowers, power tools, tractors and associated plant ensuring the safe use of resources/machinery necessary in performance of all work. Includes safe operation, daily/weekly/monthly operational checks and servicing and ensuring all vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and outside. 13. Drive applicable Council vehicles including vans and lorries and other mechanical plant up to relevant C1+E licence. Complete and maintain daily records sheets relative to the operation of the vehicle. Ensure all vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and outside on a daily basis. 14. Supervise general grounds tasks, including turf care, planting, shrub and tree pruning, removal of grass cuttings, leaves and litter etc. 15. Supervise the seeding, propagation, planting, mulching, tending and weeding of flower and shrub beds. 16. Supervise the use of, where appropriate, chemical weed control, complying with manufacturers’ instructions and COSHH regulations. 17. Supervise the maintenance of hard/soft landscaping, eg edging of paths and paved areas. 18. Oversee the erection, inspection, maintenance and dismantling of sports and play equipment. 19. Undertake construction labouring work and the safe operation of a range of assorted tools and equipment, including the erection and/or repair of fencing and path laying. 20. Responsible for ensuring that staff under their control safely use appropriate plant/machinery necessary in performance of all work. Includes safe operation, daily/weekly operational checks (oil/water) and ensuring same are kept clean and serviceable. 21. Cemetery duties including: ensuring correct location of grave (referring to maps and other records) setting out, excavating, re-opening, exhuming, digging (mechanical/hand), attend committals, backfill and aftercare (sowing/turfing/grass cutting) of graves. 22. As required, work flexibly with other works teams (outside of grounds maintenance) to ensure delivery of all Council services eg supporting delivery of Council events (including stewarding) and erection, inspection and minor repairs of festive lighting. 23. Support other agencies (in times of emergency) by eg filling, delivery and placing of sand bags in flooded areas or snow clearance from footpaths. 24. Cleaning, litter picking and general housekeeping duties. 25. Report all accidents and near misses which may occur and report all incidents of damage to Council property/equipment. 26. In circumstances when littering is observed during the course of their duties record details of the incident and pass the information to the Supervisor. 27. Carry out duties in all weather conditions unless it is felt health and safety is being compromised. GENERAL 28. By its nature the post will require flexible working to meet the needs of the service. Cemetery Maintenance Operative
Salary: Scale 3 SCP 7 – 9 £26,403 - £27,254 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (7.5 hours) 8.00am - 4.00pm and Friday (7 hours) 8.00am - 3.30pm, weekend and public holiday working will be required to meet the needs of the service Duration: Permanent The Council may retain a list of successful reserve candidates arising from this recruitment for any vacancies which may arise which are the same grade and similar duties. Such a reserve list will be compiled and held for a period of 12 months from the date of interview. All employees are expected to model the Customer Care behaviours of “Serve Passionately, Engage Positively and Deliver Consistently.” JOB PURPOSE: The post holder will be required to excavate and backfill graves manually or mechanically, making necessary preparations before and after burials as appropriate, and carry out grounds maintenance of cemeteries to agreed standards. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Identify and check grave spaces and report irregularities. Dig and backfill graves by mechanical or manual means, operating dumpers or diggers as necessary, and act as banks person when required at opening of graves. Ensure that all statutes, laws, rules and regulations pertaining to burials are strictly followed and report any breach of the regulations. Responsible for interments, including site preparation and lowering coffin into ground, backfill and finish grave including placing of wreaths. Ensure that corteges are properly received and accompanied, where necessary, to the appropriate site and assist if required at interments. Assist in exhumations as required. Monitor monumental masons to ensure that the specification as per application is being properly carried out. Ensure that all enquiries and complaints are dealt with properly and quickly and deal with the public in a courteous manner. Undergo periodic training as and when necessary to keep updated with modern developments relating to burials and ground maintenance. Carry out daily checks of the cemeteries, including vehicles, plant and equipment and report/deal with any damage observed as appropriate. Receive coffin from Undertaker and receive documentation including monies. Undertake maintenance of cemeteries and buildings including sweeping, grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting and removal of litter/rubbish. Carry out grounds’ maintenance, including turfing, seed sowing and spraying. Operate appropriate plant/ vehicles relevant to cemetery operations. Secure buildings and set security alarms as required. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Experience • At least 6 months experience in two or more of the following areas: ▪ Operating a variety of grass cutting machinery ▪ Amenity horticulture skills e.g. bedding, shrub and tree planting, pruning, weeding, fertilising etc ▪ Mechanical excavator operations • 6 months experience of dealing with the public in a customer service capacity. Key Responsibilities: · Observe all on site and legislative rules and regulations in terms of Health & Safety, food safety and environmental. · Ensure all maintenance is carried out under GMP conditions. · Carry out electrical and mechanical process awareness, diagnostics and troubleshooting. · Complete electrical and mechanical repairs to food processing, handling and packaging equipment. · Technical support for plant facilities and services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant. · Carry out and record planned maintenance routines. · Carry out and record preventive maintenance. · Control of contractors and acting as liaison person when required The Candidate: The successful candidate must have relevant experience in a similar role with specific reference to the following: Salary : The remuneration package on offer will reflect the importance of the role and the experience of the successful candidate.
