Location: Corlann – West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Working in partnership with each person supported by services, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by services to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. Caislean Adult Services provide a range of community-based servicesincluding day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our services to have valued social roles in their communities and to form friendships. Reports/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Coordinator Qualifications/Experience/Skills: · Candidates must have received a good general education. · A certificate in Food Hygiene /HACCP for Food Handlers training is an advantage. Alternatively, a commitment to completing a Food Hygiene /HACCP for Food Handlers training course is required. · Candidates must have adequate training and experience to enable him/her to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. · Candidates must be able to demonstrate domestic, household and food preparation and cooking skills. · A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. Working Hours: 30 hours a fortnight based on a 7 day duty roster. The normal working hours will be Monday – Friday but may involve weekend or evening work if required to meet service needs. Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum pro rata, i.e. 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked. Staff Nurse/enhanced Nurse
CORLANN – WEST REGION POST OF TEMPORARY FULL TIME STAFF NURSE/ENHANCED NURSE CHILDREN’S SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY JOB REF: 97537 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse/Enhanced Nurse appointments within the Children’s Services may be made over the next 6 months. Location: This post is primarily located in Crannog Children’s Respite Service. Crannog provides a respite service to children from 6 years of age up to 18 years of age who have a wide range of needs including those with Physical disability, complex medical needs, Autism and behavioural needs. There may also be a requirement to cover hours in the other Children’s Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres located in Galway City. Candidates will be required to be completely flexible in this position and will be required to work a variety of hours including day and night duty hours and sleep-ins as required. The Role: To support the implementation of children’s individualised developmental and educational programmes and work together with the multidisciplinary and staff teams in ensuring the maximum benefit of the programme for the children. To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting children with complex needs. To demonstrate and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply his/ her skills to ensure the developmental, learning, physical, social, and emotional needs of the children in his/ her care are addressed at all times. Be an informed resource for educating and supporting care assistants and family members. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Children’s Services Co-ordinator/ Sector Manager. Works With: - Children and families; - Staff Teams; - Multidisciplinary Staff. Qualifications/Experience: • A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais). A RNID qualification is highly desirable. • Candidates must have a minimum of six months experience of working with children or in an Intellectual Disability setting. • A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is desirable for this post. • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. • Basic IT skills are also desirable. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: • Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality. • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and to communicate sensitively with family members and work with them for the best outcomes. • Creative problem solving skills. • The ability to work independently and seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate. • Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities. • Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs. • The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. Participate in person-centred planning, reviews and team meetings. • Attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team. Working Hours: 75 hours per fortnight based on a 7-day/night duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays and night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 24 days pro rata per annum. Appropriate service-related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health salary scales as at 01/02/2026 apply: Staff Nurse - € 37,788 x 11 increments - € 54,412 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 56,032 pro rata per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *Enhanced Nurse – € 44,811 x 7 increments - € 56,200 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 57,846 pro rata per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 – Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract https://www.hse.ie/eng/staff/resources/hr-circulars/hr-circular-022-2019-re-enhanced-nurse-midwife-contract.pdf; once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins and night duty when worked. A location allowance of €2,637 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) will also be paid when assigned to services where 75% of the persons supported have a diagnosis of severe/profound intellectual disability. Tenure: The post is temporary, full time and pensionable linked on a specific purpose basis to a permanent staff member’s career break. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. Essential criteria: • Possess a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English language (Grades A-C). • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages. • Strong communication and time management skills. • Currently have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
