Waterford Proteins is seeking general operatives at our site in Ferrybank, Waterford. Waterford Proteins which is part of the ABP Food Group specialises in the processing of animal by products through its modern and efficient production plant. We are looking for enthusiastic general operatives to operate and maintain our computerised processing facility, adhering to all health and safety standards. Candidates will be required to work a three-shift cycle of eight-hour periods from Monday to Saturday. Overtime may be required at busy periods of the year. Experience in a meat processing facility would be an advantage, but suitable candidates will be given full training. Human Resources Manager
THE ROLE The HR Manager (ER) together with the Head of HR will lead the HR team to support organisational change and development whilst delivering a comprehensive and professional service to management and currently 950 employees. The post holder is responsible for assisting the Head of HR to undertake key responsibilities relating to the management of employee relations. The aim of this role is to assist with the promotion of a constructive and productive employee relations culture in a way that achieves employee commitment and supports the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Strategy. Working with the Head of HR, the HR Manager (ER) will manage the day to day operation of the HR Department and be responsible for the supervision and management of the HR personnel. The successful candidate will be pro-active in ensuring the implementation and delivery of best practice HR policy and procedure. The post holder will also be expected to represent the Services at Human Resource Management and Employee Relations Forums, working groups and meetings as required. HR Manager (ER) will deputise for the Head of HR during absence or leave as required. This is a senior role within the BOCSI South East Region and the post-holder will be responsible for supporting the leadership, further development and overall management of the HR function in the South East Region. Principle duties of the HR Manager (ER) will include the following: ➢ Provide expert HR and Employee Relations (ER) support, direction and guidance on all HR policies and procedures to managers and staff working within BOCSI. To ensure compliance with best practice and legislation which includes attending meetings with Trade Unions and Staff Representatives. ➢ Be the central point for all ER issues. Consult and provide training, advice, counsel and resolution to employees and managers on a broad range of employee relations matters including policy interpretation and application, employment laws, conflict resolution, progressive discipline and trust in care. ➢ Partner with Regional Service Managers/ Service Manager, Heads of Departments and HR and recognised trade unions as necessary to reach an effective resolution for employee matters. Educate people managers and implement training programmes to assist managers in their roles. ➢ Utilise data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of the ER programmes and initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis. ➢ Champion diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and ensure they are integrated into all ER practices. Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace culture ➢ Liaise with the HSE, IBEC and other statutory agencies and bodies as appropriate to establish contacts and keep abreast of emerging policy and compliance requirements. ➢ Ensure to comply with all HIQA requirements in relation to the ER function ➢ Ensure that the recruitment process, the issue of contracts of employment and the terms and conditions of employment meet all relevant employment legislation, relevant national HSE policies, HIQA regulations and the policies and procedures of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. ➢ Assist in the management of the Trust in Care process, investigations etc. and liaise with Managers/Heads of Departments and other professionals as appropriate. ➢ Prepare documentation/submissions and represent the Services at meetings with Third Parties including Trade Union meetings ➢ Empower managers through mentoring, coaching and practical advice to support their development and management of their staff teams General ➢ Monitor monthly HR metrics – WTE, Absenteeism, EWTD, Starters & Leavers Reports for review by Head of Human Resources, to assist BOCSI South East with performance management and identify concerns or gaps in a timely manner ➢ Support the Head of HR in leading change and support the implementation of staff engagement process ➢ Develop Standard Operative Procedures for all HR processes ➢ Develop and implement audits on key KPI’s e.g.: Exit interviews, Absenteeism etc ➢ Maintain appropriate records and provide statistical information as required across a wide range of areas including requests from external agencies such as HSE in a timely manner Staffing/Resources ➢ Participate on interview boards when required ➢ Work closely with Managers/Heads of Departments to develop and maintain an effective workforce planning system and preparing succession Plans ➢ Proactively manage good and poor performance and address grievance/disciplinary issues efficiently in accordance with BOCSI policies and procedures ➢ Assist in promoting good attendance management and work in partnership with the Occupational Health Service to ensure that the Services remain strongly committed to supporting employee wellbeing and protecting employees from factors averse to health through reducing risks and promoting safe work practices. Support Managers in a rehabilitation process for employees on long term sick leave Leadership & Direction ➢ Assist in leading the HR Team in identifying improvements and initiatives to the service in line with best practice. ➢ Play a leadership role in the development of progressive HR policies and practices and introduce innovations as appropriate ➢ Provide leadership in the area of change management to ensure the HR policies, programmes and activities are aligned to the BOCSI South East goals ➢ Assist in the development and implementation of strategies that promotes the BOCSI as an employer of choice to attract the highest calibre of staff with the appropriate skill mix ➢ Assist in the development of an organisational culture that values people, their skills, ideas and contribution and seeks to empower individuals ➢ Demonstrate pro-active commitment to all communications with internal and external stakeholders ➢ Contribute to the national agendas on HR matters as appropriate ➢ Work with management in the implementation of HR change projects ➢ Deliver a customer services function, ensuring efficient responsiveness to queries and complaints The appointee will be required to maintain and enhance their knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary to respond to a changing work environment. Training and Development ➢ Be responsible for identifying own training and development needs and the needs of team members. ➢ Attend lectures, courses, meetings as required and share information and knowledge gained with colleagues. ➢ Attend mandatory training courses and achieve the required standard. Health & Safety ➢ Be conscious of health and safety matters in the work place and in particular to comply with employees’ obligations as set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and to ensure that the procedures set out in the Safety Statement are implemented at all times; ➢ Report accidents/irregularities or other matters of safety concern immediately to the Head of Department, or such other person as the Employing Authority may designate; ➢ Participate in regular safety audits and fire drills as required. ➢ Be aware of and become familiar with security procedures relating to the premises and ensure that exits are secured as required at the end of each working day. ➢ Be conversant with existing fire regulations and emergency procedures and participate in the implementation of same; ➢ Identify risks, assess and document appropriately keeping the Head of HR informed of any irregularities.
