Support Persons with a disability to access a wide range of community based services and opportunities to meet their individual needs We are currently seeking applications from highly motivated people, to join our team for the following positions DAY SERVICE COMMUNITY FACILITATORS Ref: 91426 (01/2026) Permanent Full-Time / Permanent Part-Time / Part time evenings only (fixed term contract) and Relief posts Sectors 1 & 2 Day Services (Cork City) Day Service Summary: The Brothers of Charity – Southern Services provide a wide range of day services which are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we support. The range of services include community access programmes to intensive support services for people with intellectual disability and autism. In line with New Directions policy, the aim of the service is to provide every individual with opportunities to make meaningful choices and engage in new experiences, supporting personal growth and community inclusion. Each day service is made up of a dedicated staff team and these staff teams are supported through a line management structure, supervision, in house training relevant to the support needs of the person supported and ongoing support from multidisciplinary teams. The candidate will be assigned to a day service location based on their experience, qualification and the service need. THE ROLE As a community facilitator in a day service, you will support adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, through a person centred approach, in achieving their full potential by facilitating them to engage in meaningful day activities based on their will and preference. The service will be in a day service environment, you will work as a member of a team under the supervision of senior staff in line with the principles of New Directions, promoting independence, choice, inclusion and meaningful community participation. You will work as part of the team and provide support on a planned basis. Networking and developing strong links within the community is an integral part of this role. You will be required to support an after work programme on a rostered/rotational basis, some evenings and Saturdays in line with HSE Policy New Directions. The Candidates Each candidate for the appointment must: Have a relevant Level 5 Major or higher qualification on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework in community development, health or education 6 months’ experience of working with people with an intellectual disability, autism and challenging behaviour is desirable Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems Skills / or interest in Art/Crafts, Pottery, Horticulture, Gardening, Alternative therapies, Music, Sport, would be a distinct advantage. Be available to work afternoons/evenings and some weekends as required Salary Scale: €35,432 - €51,373 per annum (HSE Consolidated Scales 1/8/25 Supervisor/Instructor Specialist Agencies Salary scale). Clinical Research Fellow Position (x1) in the Department of Surgery Cork University Hospital and University College Cork University College CorkAffiliation: School of Medicine, Department of Surgery Contract Type: Fixed Term Whole-Time Job Type: Clinical Research Project Outline This Clinical Research Fellow position (x1) in Surgery is focused on the perioperative immune response of cancer patients. The research project is supported by the Department of Surgery lab in the University College Cork (UCC) Clinical Science Building at the Cork University Hospital campus. This research project will focus on advancing and improving cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment in the context of surgery. This position will be prioritised to those interested in pursuing a PhD or MD. Key duties and responsibilities · The candidate will conduct a specified programme of research under the supervision of Dr. Cathriona Foley. · Interdisciplinary interactions with collaborators in CUH and UCC will be required. Additional tasks will include: · The dissemination of results at conferences and through scientific articles. · Attendance at postgraduate training courses. · Regular reporting of research data. · Involvement in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities. Qualifications & Candidate Profile · Potential applicants should have MB, BCh, BAO (Hons) Degree in Medicine with clinical and/or research experience in the discipline of Surgery. · Highly motivated, detail orientated and committed with a keen interest in creative and multidisciplinary research. · Excellent communication, organisation, interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a project team are essential. · A record of peer-reviewed journal publications is advantageous but not essential. · Some research experience undertaking laboratory experiments and clinical sample collection is advantageous but not essential. · Applicants whose first language is not English must show evidence of English proficiency (e.g. IELTS minimum 6.5, individual sections 6.0), please check the requirements at: https://www.ucc.ie/en/study/comparison/english/postgraduate/ The Department of Surgery Lab & Research Group The Department of Surgery Lab and Research Group is located within University College Cork (UCC) on the Cork University Hospital (CUH) campus. CUH is the only Level 1 Trauma Centre in Ireland. The Department of Surgery has extensive clinical, research and educatory commitments and is responsible for the delivery of Undergraduate Surgical Education in University College Cork. The Department of Surgery has a long and outstanding tradition of Postgraduate Education with a strong research emphasis on basic science, clinical and translational research. The department’s dedicated research laboratories are located in the UCC Research Facility on the campus of Cork University Hospital. The hospital is located 10 minutes away from the main UCC campus. Professor Paul Redmond is Head of the Department of Surgery at UCC. His primary clinical interest is in Surgical Oncology. He established the Research Laboratory in 1997 and has overseen the research and theses (PhD, MD, MCh) of over 50 research fellows. Dr Foley is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Surgery at UCC. Her primary research focus is harnessing the peri-operative immune response to improve cancer patient outcome. The current research interests of the Department of Surgery include the evaluation of the molecular interactions that influence peri-operative tumour growth, immune response, and wound healing. The laboratory has been successful in achieving significant grant funding and has published over 350 original articles. Funding This full-time position includes a salary, excluding fees if pursuing a PhD or an MD and is tenable for a maximum of 2 years if pursuing a full-time MD and 4 years if pursuing a full-time PhD. Senior Clinical Psychologist (Adult Services) Part Time - Fixed Term 12 months 0.4 WTE (14 hour working week) Horizons is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Part Time Senior Psychologist to work in adult services. The successful applicant will work as part of multi-disciplinary team to provide quality and evidence-based services to adults with complex needs within an interdisciplinary framework. Salary: The 8-point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025 (based on 1 WTE): €98,503, €100,844, €103,205, €105,552, €107,881, €108,776, €112,279, €115,784 LSIs pro rata.
