Business Programmes Marketing Officer
KEY PURPOSE OF JOB: As a member of the Economic Development team, the post holder will support the delivery of marketing, communications, and public relations activity to promote the Council’s economic development programmes, initiatives, and events. The post holder will primarily support the Business Solutions team across a wide range of areas, including business start-up, business growth, investment promotion, various grant support schemes, local economic partnerships, and international trade. They will also work with the Programmes team specifically on skills development and workforce initiatives delivered through the Labour Market Partnership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support the design, implementation and evaluation of targeted marketing campaigns to encourage both business and people engagement, increase awareness of grant opportunities, boost event attendance, and promote participation in economic development programmes. Work collaboratively with other Council teams, departments, partner organisations, and local businesses to ensure coordinated and effective promotional activity. Work in collaboration with the Council’s Corporate Communications team to contribute to the development and delivery of targeted marketing and communications plans that support the objectives of the Economic Development unit. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Council’s Corporate Strategy. Create a variety of content, including e-zines, press releases, news articles, case studies, website and social media posts, and promotional materials. Work in partnership with the Corporate Communications team to ensure that economic development messaging remains consistent with the wider corporate brand including websites, social media channels, newsletters, and printed materials. Support the planning, marketing and delivery of economic development events such as business conferences, networking events, workshops, and job fairs. Arrange photographer or take photos at events where suitable. Represent the Economic Development team on inter-departmental working groups and liaise with partners to enhance community and business engagement across the Council area. Support the promotion of economic development projects and digital campaigns. Work with the Corporate Communications team to schedule and share content appropriately. Monitor engagement and performance data to help assess impact and inform future improvements. Deliver marketing activities within agreed budgets and ensure compliance with the Council’s financial and procurement procedures. Ensure all marketing activity supports the Council’s strategic objectives and complies with policies, procedures, and brand guidelines. Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Undertake supplementary responsibilities assigned by the relevant manager, to include participating in the interchange of duties to provide coverage for sickness, annual leave, and staff vacancies. Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Equality Legislation, and operate within the highest standards of organisational skills and personal behaviour, which reflect the core values and behaviours of the organisation. Ensure the provision of high standards of customer care across all the services provided by the Unit and promote and manage the service effectively and communicate in a way which enhances and promotes the public image and overall reputation of the Council. Note: The postholder should be aware that the responsibilities and functional areas of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change. The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of functional responsibilities. The post holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation. Qualifications & Experience It is essential that applicants have a minimum of: QUALIFICATIONS 1.1 A third level qualification (for example, an HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4, Degree) or equivalent in a relevant discipline. EXPERIENCE 1.2 Two year’s employment experience to include: • Developing and delivering marketing content, plans, and reports • Coordinating and managing events and promotional activities • Preparing content for press releases and overseeing media opportunities such as photocalls Where applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1 above, they must demonstrate a minimum of FIVE years’ experience in 1.2 above. Knowledge • Practical working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Skills • Ability to use own initiative to organise and plan workload to deliver outcomes in a timely manner. • Adaptable to change and a willingness to implement improved ways of working. • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Essential Criteria · Be a qualified member of a recognized accountancy body · Significant experience working in a finance related role in a large multi divisional organisation to include experience of computerised finance and budgeting systems (e. g.
