Purpose and Function of Post To principally undertake joinery and carpentry work associated with the delivery of Building Maintenance Environment services across the District. To also undertake other duties to support the Building Maintenance team in delivering electrical, plumbing, joinery, painting, welding, plastering and bricklaying works. The post will be a specific position with post holders expected to work in the discipline that they have time served and qualified to undertake and where they have skills and experience in other areas they will be requested to assist as part of the Building Maintenance team.
Community & Events Assistants
Wages Scale 1; SCP 3; £12.85 per hour. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis. Key Purpose of the Post The post holder will contribute to and undertake a wide range of duties for Council events and programme delivery operations across the district. These can be physical in nature and the post holder may be exposed to unfavourable environmental conditions. Events include, but are not limited to, St Patricks Day, Christmas, Community Summer Schemes, Cross Country, Guided Walks, Sports Events, Arts and Crafts, Drama, etc. Main Duties of the Post • Contribute, as necessary, at Council events, for example crowd control, car parking duties, marshalling, grounds maintenance, litter picking, setting up equipment, cash handling, point of sale operations, merchandise, ushering and evacuation procedures, etc. • Assist and facilitate the delivery of a programme of activities for all ages, including leading and supervising sports, games and arts and crafts. • Ensure high standards of customer care duties, which would include assisting the public by giving directions and information as requested, dealing with minor incidents and accidents, lost children and lost property, etc. • Administer first aid, accurately record and report all incidents, accidents and near misses, and assist any Emergency Service personnel in carrying out their duties. • Assist in the handling and maintenance of all equipment, the assembly, for example barriers, public address systems, staging, sports equipment, etc., and report any defects or hazardous situations to the Manager or Officer, and ensure a high level of safety at all times. • Erect, dismantle and remove large and small items of equipment and event or programme apparatus, and check all structures and equipment are safely erected for the purpose intended. • Work as part of a team and ensure that all Health and Safety measures are adhered to before, during and after the events and programmes have taken place. • Carry out continuous inspections of indoor and outdoor event sites, buildings, parks, grounds, etc., and participate in arrangements for securing and making the same safe as required. • Carry out customer and participant surveys and questionnaires during and after events and programmes, and collate information for reporting purposes. • Carry out cleaning duties and removal of litter and dangerous objects to include all areas, buildings, car parks, parks, open spaces and Council facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment for all users. • Attend Health and Safety and all relevant Council policy and procedure training as required in order to meet the mandatory requirements of the post. • Assist in the delivery of the Council’s Programme of Events, and maintain an element of flexibility in the performance of a range of duties to meet the demands of the service. • Wear Council identified attire, and any other personal protective equipment, so as to be identified as staff for all events and programmes. • Carry out driving duties as may be required. • Undertake any other duties and training as required within the remit of the post. Essential Criteria Applicants must demonstrate the ability to: a) Work as part of a team. b) Act in a safe and responsible manner and follow instructions. c) Demonstrate experience of working with members of the public. Access to a form of transport to meet the needs of the post. Desirable Criteria • Previous experience of supervision of large groups of young people in an unstructured environment. • Possess an up to date valid First Aid certificate. • Demonstrate that you hold a minimum of one relevant coaching qualification. On-call Firefighter, Fire Station
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) wish to invite applications for On-Call Firefighters in the following station: Whitehead Fire Station On-Call Firefighters play a critical role in protecting the local community and many of our fire stations depend on the contribution of our part time firefighters to ensure we can respond. This is a worthwhile and rewarding role providing an opportunity to work as part of a team, receive excellent training and develop a wide range of skills and experience. In order to fulfil the role, you must be able to respond to emergency calls by reporting to the fire station within 5 minutes of being alerted . Main Duties and Responsibilities Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner and assist with general inquiries. Help customers locate products and provide basic, approved information as permitted. Prepare, label and organise products according to company and regulatory guidelines. Operate point of sale systems and handle transactions accurately. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dispensary and storage areas.
