There is currently one permanent full-time Senior Orthoptist, vacancy available in the HSE South West. The main base for the Community Paediatric Ophthalmology service in Cork will be in Ballincollig Primary Care Centre with outreach clinics in West Cork and North Cork. A panel may be created from this campaign for the Senior Orthoptist, from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled. The successful candidate will be required to deliver, manage and develop the Orthoptic service throughout Cork city and county. The service will be co-located with a number of primary care services and other services all of which serve a large population base. The Senior Orthoptist will have a pivotal role in the development of the service in the context of the National Primary Care Eye Services Review Group Report and will be required to participate in this programme and in any changes it may bring to the existing service including moving to an integrated acute/community model of care. CORLANN –WEST REGION POSTS: LOCUM RELIEF SUPPORT WORKERS HYDE SERVICES (Roscommon Town, Kilteevan, Athleague, Tremane/Rahara) Job Ref: 93873 We wish to recruit innovative, creative and motivated people who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision as part of a team. We are looking for people who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individuals they support and are open to change. Staff allocation could be either within residential/respite/day settings or in community services. The appointee will initially commence working in one particular area and this work location may change due to future service needs. The Role: The Support Worker role is to support the person in all aspects of daily living focusing on the individual’s ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times. The Support Worker will assist people with the achievement of personal outcomes and in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. The Support Worker is also responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, household tasks, personal and intimate care and other related aspects of physical well-being. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Working Hours: Up to 39 hours per week based on a 7 day/night duty roster. Locum staff are called for locum duty when the exigencies of the service so require e.g. to fill absences arising from sick leave, annual leave etc., and to cover any other emergencies that may arise. There are no minimum guaranteed hours associated with the position. All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported Annual Leave: 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e. 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked. Remuneration: Department of Health salary scales apply as at 01/08/2025: €34,036 x 11 increments - €46,652 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). A Long Service Increment €47,454 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, sleep-ins and night-duty when worked. Salary quoted is based on a 39 hour working week. A panel may be created from this campaign for the Laboratory Scientist (PALs), from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled. The statutory responsibility of the three Public Analyst’s Laboratories (PALs), located in Cork, Dublin and Galway, is the protection of public health by providing an accredited independent scientific analytical and advisory service to a wide range of customers. The Legislative Statutory framework for the PALs is enshrined in all relevant food safety and food control legislation and cosmetics safety legislation, both EU and Nationally, as implemented by Statutory Instruments (S.I.). The latter include S.I. 117 of 2010 EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations and S.I. No. 440 of 2013 European Union (Cosmetic Products) Regulations 2013. Medical Social Worker
Role Purpose This is post is within the specialist palliative care service at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice, working under the direction of the Principal Social Worker as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team. The core clinical purpose is to assess the psychological, emotional, and social needs of patients and their families facing life-limiting illness, the dying phase, and bereavement, and to develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the wider MDT. Alongside direct clinical practice, the role carries a significant community liaison and coordination function. This includes facilitating access to community-based services for patients, families, and the bereaved, coordinating discharge planning to ensure appropriate supports are in place outside the hospice, and maintaining effective working relationships with primary healthcare teams, the hospital social work team, and voluntary organisations. In this respect, the postholder must be equally effective as a clinician and as an inter-agency collaborator Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. (a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: (i) Be registered in the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU.
