This is a **non-medical Personal Assistant role**. I am not looking for a traditional carer — my PAs are essentially **an extension of my arms and legs**, helping me with the things I cannot physically do myself. ### **The Role** A typical shift will start at **6:30pm and finish at 4:00pm the following day**. Additional hours may be available for the right candidate. The role can involve: * Assisting with personal care * Supporting me when attending social events and activities * Driving my wheelchair-accessible vehicle * Housework and keeping my home organised * Meal preparation * Following instructions and supporting me with my daily routine * Helping me to maintain my independence and enjoy an active social life ### **The ideal candidate** I am looking for someone who is: A female personal assistant due to personal nature of the job * Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy * Confident and able to work independently * Comfortable following instructions and taking direction * A good communicator with **fluent English** * Flexible and willing to get involved in different aspects of daily life * Respectful of my independence, privacy, and personal choices **Applicants must be aged 25 or over** due to insurance requirements for driving my wheelchair-accessible vehicle. This will require helping her in all areas of life including personal care and domestic need while also acting as a support in the social and day to day activities of this young woman. The ÁT Network are a non-profit organisation who work alongside the HSE to support people with disabilities (who we refer to as Leaders) all over the country to live a self-directed and independent life. In this case, the service is supported and ran locally by the Leader’s family. One full-time and one part-time position available. Although the hours are fixed, there is potential for flexibility for the right candidate. The successful candidate must be okay with dogs as the household are dog owners and must also hold a clean driver’s licence. The successful candidate would need access to their own vehicle as they would be driving the Leader in it. Expenses will be covered for this. Duties · Assistance with domestic needs (cooking, cleaning, shopping etc) · Assisting the Leader to attend appointments so the ability and willingness to drive the Leader’s manual car is essential. · Assisting the Leader to engage in social, political, and cultural life. Essential Qualifications/Requirements · Must be willing to complete mandatory training sessions and Garda Vetting. · Must be eligible to work in Ireland and live locally to the Leader. · Fluency in the English language. · Must have a proven ability to listen and to follow instruction. · Proven ability to understand that the Leader knows what is in their own best interest and can make decisions for themselves. · Must have a full clean driving licence and be willing to drive Leader’s manual car. · Sociable and a good sense of humour, as well as an ability to work quietly and to respect the light, and sound sensitivities of the disabled individual. · Must be flexible, open, and honest and have the ability to work on own initiative. Desirable Qualities · An understanding of the United Nations Declaration of Rights for Disabled People and the concept of Independent Living that the Declaration contains. · An understanding of social model of disability, and of why the Charity and Medical models are not helpful. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Ireland.
