The ASI is currently recruiting a Care Worker who will work with our Wicklow Home Care Service. The successful candidate will work in assigned family homes in Wicklow and surrounding areas, with offices based in The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Eastern Centre of Operations, 1st Floor, 7A The Village Centre, Lucan, Co. Dublin, K78 E2D3. This is a permanent contract working 20 hours per week . Reporting to the Home Care Coordinator, Care Workers are responsible for providing person centred care to people with dementia, addressing their needs and enhancing their quality of life. To be successful in this role, you will need experience of working with people with dementia, older people or people with intellectual disabilities. FETAC Level 5 qualification is desirable but not essential. You will need good communication and organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Salary will be commensurate with the care sector and dependent on relevant experience. Caislean Adult Services provide a range of community-based servicesincluding day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups. Candidates will be required to be flexible in this position, and will be required to work a variety of hours as required. The successful candidate may be required to work between the various community houses and day care programme areas associated with the Caislean Services depending on service need. The Role: Social Care Workers fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for adults supported by the service in all aspects of their lives, focusing on each individual’s ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times. The Social Care Worker will assist people with the development of person-centred plans and critically, will support people to make informed choices and fulfil their potential. They will encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking in leading to informed choices. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported Annual Leave: 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e. 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health Social Care Worker salary scale as at 01/06/2026 apply: €41,260 x 11 increments - €56,717 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). A long service increment €57,789 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Salary quoted is based on a 39 hour working week. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service. Tenure: There are currently two permanent full time pensionable posts available. A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent permanent, temporary or fixed term Social Care Worker appointments within Caislean Services may be offered over the next 6 months. Retained Firefighters
JOB REQUIREMENTS PLEASE NOTE: Training fees will be paid at the current hourly rate for Firefighters during training. This hourly rate is currently €26.04. Failure to successfully complete all of the above courses will result in the termination of the Firefighter’s employment as the recruit firefighter has failed in achieving the appropriate competency to undertake the role. Some or all of the above courses will be held at a training facility, which may or may not be situated locally. From the date of commencement as a recruit Firefighter, there shall be a period of 12 months during which the recruit Firefighter shall be on probation. During this time the recruit Firefighter shall be continually assessed to determine his/her suitability for continued employment. Such period of 12 months may be extended at the absolute discretion of the County Council. The recruit shall not become a permanent Firefighter at the end of the period of probation unless the County Council is satisfied that the Firefighter has been satisfactory in all respects. Remuneration A Firefighter shall be paid at the appropriate approved national rates of Fire and Drill Fees and Retainer Fees and in accordance with any national agreements for retained Firefighters. Payment of fees is currently made fortnightly.
District Warden
About the Role We are recruiting for a District Warden to join our team in Greenbank, Newry . The District Warden (Dog Warden) is a frontline role responsible for enforcing legislation relating to dog control, animal welfare and wider environmental protection across the district. Working within a legislative framework, the postholder investigates complaints, deals with stray and dangerous dogs, issues fixed penalty notices and prepares evidence for legal proceedings where required. The role involves regular patrols, responding to incidents, seizing and impounding dogs where necessary, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. The postholder often works independently in potentially challenging or confrontational situations and liaises closely with partner agencies such as the PSNI and animal welfare organisations. In addition to enforcement, the Dog Warden provides advice and guidance to the public, promotes responsible dog ownership and contributes to educational initiatives aimed at preventing offences. The role is key to safeguarding public safety, protecting animal welfare and maintaining clean, well-managed communities. Salary Scale Depending on service requirements and in accordance with relevant legislation and Council Policy and Procedure. Where applicable, act as a keyholder and respond to emergency call-outs as required. When required, assist in the execution of the Council's Emergency and Business Continuity Plans.
