The location of this post will be in the Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Services (CMMHS) (Location TBC). There are 20 Integrated Healthcare Areas in total. They serve a population of between 150,000 and 450,000 and will take account of local geographies, population size, needs and services. Integrated Healthcare Areas bring together both acute and community services as well as other non-HSE providers. This will be crucial to supporting and enabling integrated health and social care. The HSE Dublin and North East health region is divided into 4 healthcare areas: · HSE Cavan Monaghan · HSE Louth Meath · HSE Dublin North City and West · HSE Dublin North County The person appointed to this post will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team using a co-ordinated approach to client care across all Community Organisation Care Groups, the respective Hospital Groups, and relevant Agencies/Service Providers. Psychology Services provide a range of assessment, consultation and therapy services across the lifespan. Each psychologist works exclusively within child, adult or disability services as a member of a dedicated team e.g., Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT), Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The services have close links with the Clinical Psychology Doctoral programmes. Many staff also provide lectures as part of the academic modules of the doctoral programme. The services also provide a variety of clinical training placements to trainees from various accredited programmes. Supervision (individual & group) and continuous professional development arrangements are in place for all staff. Reporting Relationship: The successful candidate will report to the Principal Psychologist Manager with accountability for day to day operational matters. Purpose of the Post: Deliver, develop and manage the delivery of a psychology service within Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Cavan Monaghan HSE in line with service plans and objectives and within established professional standards, guidelines and policy. The Senior Psychologist is a core member of the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team delivering psychological consultation, assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The Senior Psychologist will work collaboratively with the other Senior Psychologists working in CAMHS in Cavan Monaghan. The Senior Psychologist is responsible for: • Active case management • Consultation and support to MDT staff members • Individual client support • Psychological support i.e. individual assessment and therapeutic intervention, support for families, case review • Clinical oversight for cross divisional complex case management • Collaborative working with other services i.e. MHS ACMHT, Primary Care, Disability Services • Provides clinical supervision to Psychologists in Clinical training Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience. Psychologist, Senior – Clinical/Counselling/Educational in the HSE - Criteria effective up to 30 September 2026 The following criteria covers the cohorts of employees and external applicants. Category A (Employed pre October 2002) 1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. Eligible applicants must: i . Have been employed before 25th October 2002 and be currently in employment as a psychologist in the public health system; the HSE and agencies funded under Section 38 and Section 39 of the Health Act 2004 And ii. Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for And iii. Possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and ability, for the proper discharge of the office And iv. Applicants must have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post-graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years’ experience requirement. Category B (Employed between October 2002 and 31st January 2021) 1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. Eligible applicants must: i. Be currently employed in a named publically funded psychological service, Note 1. And ii. Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject And iii. Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology Or An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. And iv. Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for. And v. Applicants must have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post-graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years’ experience requirement.
