BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – SOUTHERN REGION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the Cork area. We also provide services for children and young adults across Cork and Kerry with complex needs- Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary team. Applications are invited for the following post Staff Grade Occupational Therapist Ref: 31/2025 Permanent Full-Time / Part-Time options Children’s Disability Network 13 Carrigaline / Kinsale / Bandon with bases in Carrigaline and Bandon, Co. Cork. JOB SUMMARY These permanent posts arein Network 13Carrigaline/Kinsale/Bandon, which is based in Carrigaline Primary Care centre. The successful candidate will have a caseload in the Carrigaline/Kinsale and Bandon area and will be expected to drive to these areas. The successful candidates will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team providing supports to children and young people, 0-18yrs and their families. The criteria for CDNT is children with complex needs arising from a disability, who require the support of an interdisciplinary disability team. This might include children with intellectual, physical, sensory disability, Autism and children with a complex developmental delay. This team is under the national model of service provision “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People” lead by the HSE. The successful candidate/s will be employed by the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided in the context of an interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/ young adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members . The Therapist will work in conjunction with other team members in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the children and their family and the objectives of the organisation. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as required. The Candidate: Statutory Registration, Professional Qualification, Experience etc. Each candidate for the appointment must possess the following: Be registered, or be eligible for registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Candidates must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU and must confirm annual registration to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of the annual Safety Assurance Certificate (SAC). Experience Post qualification clinical experience of working with children & young people for one year or more is highly desirable. Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and other agencies is essential. Experience of carrying out assessments with children & young people with complex needs, within the scope of the OT role and interdisciplinary team working is highly desirable. Experience of working in partnership with families is desirable. Experience of developing and coordinating individual family service plans (IFSPs) or equivalent in line with relevant progressing children’s disability (PDS) policies and procedures would be beneficial. Demonstrate a command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role. Candidates must possess the requisite clinical and administrative capabilities to fulfil the functions of the role. Annual registration Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND Confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of annual Safety Assurance Certificate Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. Driving License: Possession of a full clean driving licence, which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads, is essential. The person appointed will be required to provide their own transport during the duration of employment and will be paid travel expenses at the appropriate rates in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge or his/her duties. The base for this purpose will be the location to which the appointee is assigned. Salary Scale: €44,122 - €63,154 per annum (1/3/25 Department of Health Consolidated Scales). Pro-rata if working part-time hours . Reporting to: Children’s Disability Network Manager.
