Housekeeper

Role: To efficiently undertake cleaning, domestic, catering and laundry duties within Northern Ireland Hospice facilities, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the buildings. To provide housekeeping cover between any of the Northern Ireland Hospice sites, as and when required. Principal Duties: • Ensure that patients, families and visitors to Northern Ireland Hospice facilities are treated with politeness and courtesy at all times. • Undertake housekeeping duties within Northern Ireland Hospice in order to provide services in an effective and efficient manner, while meeting quality and hygiene standards. • Undertake cleaning duties in accordance with the set rota and maintain a high standard of presentation at all times. • Undertake in-house laundry duties. • Check regularly and maintain standard cleaning materials and consumables such as detergents, paper products, protective clothing, etc., and report same to the Estates Support Manager. • Report via the Estates and Facilities Department any structural or fabric repairs or risks which are identified as being required, for example, faulty light fittings, equipment repairs, fire safety issues, etc. • Adhere to all policies and procedures including the Health and Safety Policy, Infection Control, Waste Management, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Safeguarding, and Social Media. • Ensure that any concerns or complaints relating to the housekeeping service are referred to the Estates Support Manager as soon as possible so that they can be dealt with in a timely and sensitive manner and participate in investigating such complaints in accordance with Hospice policies. • Be alert to the presence of risk within the working environment, take steps to minimise the risk and notify a Manager so that harm can be prevented. • Promote good teamwork whilst undertaking duties and communicate any job-related issues to the Estates Support Manager in a timely manner. • Participate in the development of services, policies and procedures as determined by the needs of the service and as a result of engagement with service users. • Attend mandatory training and team meetings. • Carry out any other duties which may be allocated from time to time to ensure the service is maintained, including assistance with pantry/kitchen duties in the In-patient Unit. • Provide Housekeeper cover between any of the Northern Ireland Hospice sites, as and when required at short notice. Note: This Job Description is not meant to be definitive and may be amended to meet the changing needs of Northern Ireland Hospice. Salary Range: Based on Band 2 £24,975 per annum pro rata Hours: Permanent Part Time, 25.5 hours per week. The postholder will be required to meet the needs of the work rota and be flexible, including changing working shifts to maintain services during periods of annual leave or sick leave. Essential Criteria: • Previous experience of housekeeping/domestic work. • Ability to provide a high standard of cleanliness. • Demonstrate effective communication skills. • Hold a full UK driving licence or have access to transport to fulfil the requirements of the role. Desirable Criteria: • Previous experience of housekeeping/domestic work in a healthcare setting. • Basic food hygiene certificate or willingness to undertake. • British Institute of Cleaning Sciences Licence to Practice qualification or willingness to undertake.
