Main Purpose of Job: This role sits within the newly created Corporate & Support Services Directorate, and you will be working across the three areas of Citizen Focus, Business Support and Finance to support the transformation of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council. You will be responsible for collaborating with our delivery teams and stakeholders to support delivery of the Council’s corporate functions and processes and support adherence to our policy and legislative duties. Your role will include responsibility for ensuring organisation wide delivery of programmes across a range of functions as appropriate. Your role will include ensuring processes are followed, deadlines are met, processing information and data, report writing, resolving issues, and managing relationships. You will attend events and meet with stakeholders and partners from across local government and beyond to support the achievement of Council priorities. You will be expected to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation and duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the purpose of the job or level of responsibility. Main Purpose of Job: Provide professional and technical advice, guidance and recommendations and carry out all the functions associated with the delivery of the Council’s responsibilities and statutory functions in respect of Planning. Manage Planning Assistant(s) in a way that supports a culture of effective team working, continuous improvement and innovation. Provide professional support to the Senior Planning Officer, assemble and analyse information to inform decision making within the Planning function. Work individually or as part of a team to complete a range of duties including operating and being responsible for allocated equipment, working in co-operation with other crew members. Take responsibility for the safety, supervision and transportation of the crew, ensuring crew members comply with operational procedures whilst carrying out their duties and dealing with queries from members of the public or referring to the postholder’s line manager as appropriate. Reporting to the Legal & Democratic Services Manager you will be responsible for leading, coordinating and developing the Council’s political governance and decision-making function, Democratic Services, which includes the management arrangements for Council and committees and ensuring the provision of a range of services to support Elected Members. You will be responsible for ensuring all Council and committee meetings are timetabled, with all arrangements in place in accordance with the council’s approved approach to good governance. Lead and co-ordinate Elected Member training and development to build Elected Member capacity, supporting corporate objectives. Manage and co-ordinate delivery of a local democracy programme and civic events that raise the profile of the Borough.
