Title: Adult Education Tutor (part time) Centre: Community Education Programme – Adult Education Service north inner city Subjects : Community Education Support Tutor - 20 hours per week Post Ref: AES/PTT/2303 Community Education Programme – North Inner City The Community Education Programme for the north inner city area operates from Parnell Adult Education Centre and covers the areas of Dublin, 1, 3 and parts of Dublin 7 and 9. The Community Education Programme provides a wide range of accredited and non-accredited adult education programmes in City of Dublin ETB adult education centres and in partnership with local community groups. The successful candidate will work with the area management and staff team to coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the programme. Duties will include outreach and liaison with local community groups; promotion of the service and recruitment of learners, programme administration, course coordination and tutor support. The post holder will be required to have flexibility and be available to work evenings on an occasional basis. City of Dublin ETB Adult Education Service provides free part-time adult education programmes in adult education and community centres in over 150 locations in Dublin 1-12. The AES also provides a wide range of vocational skills programmes in subject areas including Early Learning and Care, Healthcare, Business Administration and Social Studies. Programmes are offered at NFQ Levels 1-6 with options for QQI certification as appropriate. City of Dublin ETB Adult Education Programme operates from five key regional offices based around the city and works with approximately 17,500 part-time adult education students annually Location of Position City of Dublin ETB Adult Education Centre, Parnell Sq. Dublin 1. Outreach and course administration also takes place in a wide range of settings and in partnership with voluntary, statutory and community based partners in Dublin 1, 3, 7 and 9. Hours of Work: 20 hours per week – usually daytimes to be agreed on appointment. The post holder will be required to have flexibility and be available to work evenings on an occasional basis. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work with the area management and staff team to provide tutor support to coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the programme. Duties will include: • outreach and liaison with local community groups; • promotion of the service and relevant programmes • programme administration including managing systems for learner records • recruitment and support of learners • local course coordination • tutor support including supporting implementation of ETB policy and procedure and managing relevant systems. • Other relevant duties as required Reporting: The tutor will report to the Adult Literacy Organiser / Community Education Facilitator under the supervision of the Adult Education Officer. Essential Requirements: • Relevant qualification in adult and community education at NFQ Level 7 or above • Minimum one year experience working in a relevant adult and community education setting • Excellent communication, administration and ICT skills • Understanding of working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. • Knowledge of key principles of adult education and how these apply working in diverse and/or disadvantaged community contexts. • capacity to work in non-supervised settings and an ability to plan and organise work. Desirable Requirements: • Experience coordinating adult and community education programmes • Experience in outreach and local community development approaches • Knowledge and experience of social media and relevant promotional strategies • Experience of preparing students for QQI or equivalent. As an Emergency Medical Technician Niamh has spent years working on the front line and brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to your Health & Safety Training.
