Consultant Paediatrician With A Special Interest In Infectious Diseases
Purpose of role: The Rainbow Paediatric Infectious Diseases service is a tertiary, national service, delivered currently by 4 WTE consultants. This is a very busy, ever expanding service dealing with the most complex patients. The service deals with approx. 70 consults/month in CHI Crumlin and Temple Street with daily, consultant delivered, ward rounds. In addition, the Paediatric Infectious Diseases service provides a 24/7, 365 national on-call service to paediatricians, GPs, and public health professionals around the country providing telephone consultations and accepting inpatient transfers when required. The PID service work closely with our clinical microbiology colleagues and have a number of weekly meetings including anti-microbial stewardship rounds. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to all aspects of the Paediatric Infectious Disease service and to work across CHI sites and services in line with organisational requirements and the development of the new children’s hospital and associated services. Clinical Nurse Specialist In Sexual Health
The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) is a charitable voluntary hospital and holds a unique place in the delivery of healthcare. The core objective of the MMUH is to deliver high-quality services in its numerous specialities in a safe environment. The hospital not only serves a local catchment population (approx.185,000) but also provides secondary and tertiary referral services in its regional and national specialities The Infectious Diseases Multidisciplinary Team provides 7 Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinics per week; primarily for people living with HIV, an OPAT service, and people experiencing sexually transmitted/blood borne infections. From 2019, the MMUH Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Clinic expanded and developed a Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) service for those at highest risk of HIV acquisition. The MMUH PrEP service implemented the Sexual Health Programme Sexual Health Strategy, which is guided by the relevant HSE Framework and Policy documents. Clinical work is guided by the relevant International, National, Public Health, Sexual Health Programme, MMUH and Department guidelines and protocols. National guidelines (HSE 2024) and national standards (HSE, 2024) for PrEP service providers, and a monitoring and evaluation framework, have been developed by the Sexual Health Programme (SHP) in collaboration with the multisectoral PrEP working group. The CNS for Sexual Health will work closely with the Consultant Lead for Sexual Health, ANP/cANP for Sexual Health, other Sexual Health CNSs, and as part of the wider Infectious Diseases Multidisciplinary team. Optometrist
The eye care team is a very important service within the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) areas. The Optometrist, as part of that team, has a vital role to play in providing a comprehensive and high quality eye care service to patients in conjunction with other members of the Eye Care and MMUH teams. The Optometrist will have responsibility for delivery and continuity of a patient centred care including primary ocular examinations of patients and where appropriate to conduct necessary examinations and investigations, and also to detect primary ophthalmic pathology in patients referred to the Rare Eye Disease Service (specifically to European Reference Network for rare Eye Disease ERN EYE Ireland Consortium – EEIC at MMUH) and to manage or direct such patients for appropriate treatment, in line with their scope of practice and department team clinical governance. The person appointed to this post will work within MMUH and its campuses, working as part of Ocular Genetics / Rare Eye Disease teams delivering a coordinated approach to rare eye disease patient care. The current optometry service contributes extended practice to a range of ophthalmology clinics, currently including but not exclusively; Diabetic retinopathy treatment centre (DRT), AMD/Medical Retina clinics, Cataract clinics , Glaucoma clinics, Eye Emergency dept. including virtual triage and clinical sessions, and providing a specialist contact lenses service. The Optometrist, whilst part of the wider optometry team and service provided here, will be solely to support the rare eye disease service (EEIC) via electrodiagnostic testing, specialist clinics, low vision support and clinical trial support. Clinical Nurse Specialist Oral Anti-cancer
The MMUH is the National Referral Centre for patients with Cancer. This service provides specialist care to patients with a cancer diagnosis who are prescribed OAMS. It is estimated that the number of patients receiving oral SACT for the treatment of their cancer will increase by 42-48% between 2015 and 2025 (NCCP). The population of adults with Cancer who are prescribed OAMS continues to grow rapidly, with 200 new referrals to the MMUH OAMS Clinic service annually (2021). The Oral Anti-Cancer Medication Clinic service at the MMUH was set up in response to the large volume of patients to provide specialist care to the OAMS population lost to follow-up. The CNSP in the OAMS clinic reviews approx 35 patients on OAMs per week. Appropriate patients are referred by Clinical Nurse Specialists to the OAMS clinic. Patients are reviewed in the OAMS clinic, in line with local KPI, and their medications are reviewed. A SACT nursing assessment, weight, vital signs, and medication history were completed in the OAMS clinic. The CNSp in the OAMS clinic liaises with the community pharmacy. Appropriate referrals are sent to dietetics, social work, palliative care, psycho-oncology, etc., after a discussion with the patients. OAMS patient information leaflet and triage details are given to the patient. Patient is followed up in the OAMS clinic based on the drug monitoring protocol. Phone line is available for patients to contact OAMS CNSp. OAMs CNSp attend consultant rounds weekly to discuss patient care and drug toxicities.
