"Agency Applications Will Not Be Considered at this time" The Opportunity This is an appointment to the BreastCheck on a Public Only Consultant’s Contract 2023 ( Locum ) by the Health Service Executive. The initial commitment for this post will be to BreastCheck, Merrion Unit for 27 hours per week and to St Vincent’s University Hospital for 10 hours per week. Consideration will be given to both full-time and part-time hours. The purpose of this post is to provide high quality care to patients in BreastCheck and St Vincent’s University hospital. To report mammograms, MRIs, and to perform ultrasounds, image guided biopsies and wire localisations. To participate in the multidisciplinary team and in the multidisciplinary team meetings and to be involved in QA and audit. Details of Service BreastCheck is a government funded programme which provides breast screening to women aged 50 - 69 years, using two-view mammography, at two yearly intervals. The aim of the service is to reduce mortality from Breast Cancer through early detection. BreastCheck was first established in 2000 and extended nationally in 2007. Breast screening is co-ordinated from the programme’s headquarters and is organised from a combination of four static units with additional mobile facilities, permitting screening in the community. The Merrion Unit of BreastCheck is located on Merrion Road, situated on the campus of St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) and provides screening at its static location and also at its six mobile screening units which are assigned to screen the Merrion Screening population.
