Tipperary University Hospital (TippUH) Tipperary University Hospital (TippUH), Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, is a Level 111 Acute Hospital. The hospital is part of the HSE Dublin & South East and is governed by the Executive Management Team, which is representative of the hospitals clinical and corporate functions to support the delivery of safe, efficient, effective, high-quality patient care. An important component of safe, efficient, effective, high-quality patient care is the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections. The hospital has 256 inpatient beds and 22-day beds. TippUH provides acute hospital services to the geographically wide catchment area of South Tipperary, West Waterford, North Cork, and varying areas of North Tipperary. The hospital also provides a busy outpatient facility for all disciplines including an Oncology outpatient treatment facility. The catchment population for the hospital is up to 160,000. Tipperary University Hospital is part of the HSE Dublin & South East Health Region which covers Tipperary South, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, and part of South Dublin. The HSE Dublin & South East is the largest of Ireland’s hospital groups, comprising 11 hospitals (six statutory and five voluntary). The Hospital Group is organised into acute hospital services including: St Vincent’s University Hospital University Hospital Waterford St Luke’s, General Hospital, Carlow/Kilkenny Tipperary University Hospital Wexford General Hospital St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown St Michael’s Hospital Dun Laoghaire Kilcreene Regional Orthopaedic Hospital The National Maternity Hospital National Rehabilitation Hospital Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital Tipperary University Hospital Maternity Services TippUH Maternity had on average 1000 deliveries per year over the past five years. It provides a valuable service to the women and families of Tipperary and surrounding counties. The hospital continues to evolve in line with The National Maternity Strategy. The Maternity Unit is part of Ireland East Women and Infants Directorate (ISWID). The Maternity Unit staff are a dynamic team and strive to achieve the best outcomes possible for all the women and families that use their services. It has been successful in implementing several of the objectives set out in the strategy e.g. Ultrasonography, Bereavement, Lactation Services and Perinatal Mental Health Services. Development is currently underway to develop Community Midwifery based services. Maternity Services in TippUH provide a range of antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including a SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit). The service offers: A 20 bedded unit providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care A Special Care Baby Unit with 5 cots providing care to babies over 32 week’s gestation, including repatriation of babies from other units. 2 delivery/ labour ward rooms with a 24 hour epidural service, option for an emergency Category 1 LSCS on the Labour ward , with theatre suites in Main Theatre to support both elective and emergency Caesarean Sections and any other surgical procedure which may be required e.g. repair of tears /MROP. Hospital outpatient antenatal clinics held on site Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Outreach antenatal clinics are located in Primary Care Centres in Tipperary Town, Thurles, Carrick on Suir and Cahir. Face to face or virtual bookings (via phone) available three mornings per week, including phlebotomy. Fetal Assessment Unit available three afternoons per week. The Midwifery led service caring for women in the Supported Care Pathway has been established and developing. Plans to develop Community Midwifery including Early Transfer Home is in progress Antenatal Education Classes in conjunction with a Multidisciplinary Team currently in place. Scanning Department provides booking, anatomy, growth, placental location and reassurance scans. In line with the Maternity Strategy, specialist post are in place and established e.g. Ultrasound, Bereavement, Diabetes and Perinatal Mental Health. Emergency Gynae Room in operation 24/7 staffed by midwife and NCHD. Recent developments include the total refurbishment of the Maternity unit, with implementation of an induction of labour room and cables CTG monitoring to support women in labour. Viewpoint 6 has been implemented and Video Enabled Care in caring for women with gestational diabetes. The Termination of Pregnancy Service commenced in Q1 2025 with plans to commence an Ambulatory Gyane Service in 2025 . New development plans in place for a new build Maternity Unit.

Remuneration The Salary scale for the post is (as of 01/03/25): €35,195 -€37,039 - €38,147 - €38,905 - €39,562 - €40,412 - €40,931 - €41,815 - €42,723 New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies. Purpose of the Post Responsible for delivering portering services to all departments in TippUH. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Laboratory Porter Duties which include: · The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree · Have a working Knowledge of the health information and quality Authority (HIQA) standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, national Standards for the prevention and control of healthcare Associated infections, Hygiene Standards, Fire policy, fire drill etc. and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role. · Collect and delivery all bloods/blood supplies and laboratory specimens to the laboratory. · Collect deliver specimens when required. · Co-operate and assist with National Audits. · Ability to prioritise job requests. · Report to immediate supervisor on any irregularities that might adversely affect the carrying out of assigned duties. · To perform any other duties that may be assigned appropriate to their work. · Ensure all patients are dealt with in a dignified and professional manner. · Attend for in-service training as required. · Be familiar and comply with lifting and handling techniques and attend mandatory training as required. · Comply with hospital dress code applicable to laboratory portering services. Naval Service Recruit - General Service
The Defence Forces are now accepting applications for General Service Recruit in the Naval Service. Naval Service applicants must be at least 18 years old and under the age of 39 years of age on the closing date for applications. What is a Naval Service Recruit A Naval Service Recruit enlists for General Service in the Other Ranks of the Defence Forces. After successfully completing the initial Recruit Training course a recruit passes out as an Ordinary Seaman and will then go onto their Branch Training Course before becoming qualified as an Able Body sailor in the Naval Service. Who we want Naval Service Recruits go on to form the backbone of the Irish Naval Service. Recruit training is 22 weeks in duration and is designed to develop a physically fit, disciplined and motivated person using basic military and naval skills in order to prepare them for further training in the Service. Recruits are instilled with the Naval Service ethos and the values of Courage, Respect, Integrity and Loyalty. On successful completion of the Recruit training, the Recruit is advanced to the training rank of Ordinary Rating (equivalent of 2 Star Private in the Army). The Naval Service has four Branches consisting of Seaman's, Communications, Mechanicians and Supplies. The Ordinary Rate commences their chosen Branch training giving them the specialised skills required to fulfil their role at sea and ashore. After this initial specialisation training, the Ordinary Rate will proceed to sea and take up an appointment onboard one of our ships for a two year rotation. Life at sea is at all times varied. The Ordinary Rate regardless of Branch is a much valued member of the ships crew. As well as Branch duties, he/she will be called on to complete other duties such as general maintenance, boat work, Damage Control/Firefighting. He/she may also be a member of a Naval Boarding team during Drug Interdiction Operations. Qualifications No formal education qualifications are required to join the Defence Forces as a recruit. You need to satisfy the Interview Board and the Recruiting Officer that you possess a sufficient standard of education for service in the Defence Forces. Age Limitations Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age on the date deemed as the closing date for applications. Induction Recruit Competitions are held in the Naval Service as required. This is the only way to join the Naval Service to become an Ordinary Seaman. Radiology Department - Tipperary University Hospital (TippUH) The Radiology Department provides a multi-modality Diagnostic Imaging Service to the population of Tipperary and the surrounding catchment area of Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny. The department aims to deliver a highly efficient and effective service both in the acute setting and for the wider community. Radiology services include: General Radiography incorporating 24/7 Emergency Medicine service; CT; MRI; Ultrasound; Dexa; and Fluoroscopy. We support the community by providing access to X-ray at our satellite unit in Our Lady’s Campus, Cashel where there is a busy Injuries Unit in situ. Ultrasound and Dexa OP lists are also managed in Cashel. Overall in 2024, there were in excess of 83,000 radiology examinations performed. The hospital provides 24/7 Emergency department service incorporating stroke FAST positive response. In addition, the facility provides acute medical in-patient services, elective surgery, intensive and critical care, paediatrics, maternity/gynaecological care and outpatient care. The Radiology Department staff complement includes Consultant Radiologists, Radiography Services Manager, Clinical Specialist Radiographers, Senior Radiographers, Basic Grade Radiographers, Radiology Nurse and Secretarial support. The TippUH radiology department is partnered with UCC for radiography education and we facilitate clinical placements for graduate entry radiography programmes. We support flexible working conditions for staff and have a dynamic team environment, with ongoing access to CPD.
