COPE Galway homeless services COPE Galway responds to the needs of a range of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Galway City – see Appendix 1 below for details. Background COPE Galway is contracted by Galway City Council to operate and manage a Family Hub which provides Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA) for families who are homeless in Galway City. This Family Hub operates from one building in Galway City with capacity to accommodate up to 10 families comprising of no more than 40 individuals including children. This is a 24 hour, seven-day service all year round. It takes referrals from Galway City Council Assessment and Placement services and works in close cooperation with COPE Galway Family Support Service for homeless. Comprehensive assessment support planning, exit strategy, key working and interagency case management of families, including families with complex or high support needs are all requirements of the service. Overall Purpose of the job The post of Project Worker will be primarily responsible for working with a case load of families accommodated in the Hub, supporting them through their stay and assisting them to secure move on permanent housing. The Project Worker will work as part of a team comprising of a Team Leader and a mix of Project Workers, Assistant Project Workers, relief staff, an Accommodation Supervisor and weekend cleaning staff. Working in close cooperation with other members of this team the post holder will have responsibility for the supervision of the project when on duty, working with and supporting families during their stay in the Family Hub This role will also involve working directly with clients of the service responding appropriately to their needs and will be part of the core staffing cover on a rostered basis. This job description will be subject to review to take account of any changes necessary as the project develops over time.
