Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as full-time (1FTE) Senior Lecturer in Agri-Sustainability in the School of Natural Sciences, College of Science and Engineering at the National University of Ireland Galway. The Senior Lecturer will lead the development of the new interdisciplinary BSc degree program in Agricultural Science in NUI Galway, which is in partnership with Teagasc (Ireland’s national agricultural and food development agency). The new BSc degree program has a major focus on sustainability of agriculture and agrifood systems, with interdisciplinary contributions and modules from across NUI Galway Colleges (e.g. College of Science & Engineering, College of Arts, Social Sciences & Celtic Studies), Teagasc and other partner institutions in Ireland and globally. The Senior Lecturer will be located within the NUI Galway School of Natural Sciences, and aligned with the Plant & AgriBiosciences Research Centre (PABC) of the Ryan Institute. Candidates with inter-disciplinary research interests, experience and vision in relation to agri-sustainability are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to interact and synergise with postgraduate programs in the agriculture and food domain in NUI Galway, including (a) the inter-disciplinary 1 year Masters degree in Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (MScCCAFS) in collaboration with the global CCAFS program (https://ccafs.cgiar.org) and other partners; (b) the MSc AgriFood Sustainability & Technology and (c) the Structured Research MSc in AgriBiosciences. The candidate should be willing to engage nationally and globally to strengthen educational and research links with partners, and to coordinate and supervise research activities of NUI Galway BSc Agricultural Science students in collaboration with national and global partners.
