As a Young Adult Support Worker, the post holder will be expected to support the delivery of services to young adults with physical disabilities as part of Irish Wheelchair Association’s services. The objectives of our services are to provide pathways for people with disabilities to participate fully in the community, by means of establishing developmental, personal and social inclusion programmes.  This will include supporting individual young adults to identify and work towards their personal goals, and to facilitate a range of activities, such as training workshops, personal development work, day trips and social activities, and linking with services and facilities within individuals’ local communities. You will be also required to undertake and ensure the execution of such other tasks/duties as deemed necessary to the successful implementation of young adult services. Liaison Close liaison is required with the Rehabilitative Training and School Leaver Service Coordinators and their teams. Main Duties and Responsibilities Support Service Coordinator to implement a range of group workshops and activities based on the choices and needs of young adults. Support individual young adults in line with the Association’s person-centred approach and through Personal Goals work. Purpose and Function of Post Inspect, service, and repair all assets within Council’s fleet register which includes a diverse range of specialist vehicles plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Principal Duties and Tasks Performed: 1.     Carry out within defined timelines complete overhauls and diagnostic procedures and welding tasks as required on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic systems that are in fault status. Determine cause and complete necessary repairs in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. 2.     Conduct routine safety inspections on all fleet assets, vehicle plant and associated equipment. Complete all associated administration in accordance with the requirements of ‘The Goods Vehicles Licensing of Operators Act, Northern Ireland (2010)’. 3.     Inspect and prepare a diverse range of vehicles for PSV tests and carry out pre-purchase inspections on vehicles to be purchased under Council’s loan scheme. 4.     Conduct routine technical inspections including preventative maintenance, servicing and complete any associated repairs in accordance with procedures. 5.     To be responsible for the care and maintenance of all tools and equipment allocated in respect of the duties to be carried out. 6.     Review proposed new fleet assets and advise on potential quality, performance and sustainability on fit for purpose criteria. 7.     Attend vehicle break downs, road traffic collisions (RTC’s) and emergency incidents. Carry out ‘Dynamic Risk Assessment’ of the environment, co-ordinate and conclude appropriate response action. 8.     As required assist with staff induction and training programmes for the fleet section in accordance with Council’s Policy and Procedures. Provide mentorship to mechanical apprentices that may join the Council. 9.     Deliver the mechanical service(s) including operational risk assessment(s) and maintain records in compliance with COSHH, (Flammable & Hazardous substances) standard operating procedures and Health and Safety obligations. 10. Liaise with stores section, other service providers and as required other internal/external stakeholders regarding consumable stocks levels and re-order processes. 11. Maintain and develop competencies in line with the needs of the services. 12. Provide mechanical fleet services internal/external in all environments including potentially hazardous and confined spaces. 13.
