Details of Service Midlands Disability Residential Services currently covers Longford, Westmeath and Laois. There are currently a number of community based residential homes for Adults with varying degrees of Intellectual Disability, complex needs and behaviours of concern across Midlands Intellectual Disability Residential Services. The Service comprises of residential houses/designated centres, behaviour support team and Supported living. The residential houses are managed locally by a Clinical Nurse Manager 2. The role of the Care Assistant in Midlands Intellectual Disability Residential Services is to provide holistic, person-centred care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for service users with intellectual, physical or sensory disability in all aspects of daily living. Person centred care is aligned with evidence based practice, including relevant Regulations, Standards and Guidance documents from the regulatory Authority HIQA. Purpose of the Post The overall role and responsibility of the Care Assistant is to support the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability who access the intellectual disability services. This entails working as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of nursing staff. To promote independence for the client’s day to day living and support in educating them to live a full and meaningful life.
