Job Purpose: The Management Accountant supports the effective financial management and governance of South West College by delivering high-quality financial accounting services, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining strong financial controls. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Finance, the post holder prepares statutory and management accounts, supports audits and regulatory compliance, coordinates financial returns, and works collaboratively across finance operational teams to uphold financial integrity, meet sector requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes. Location: To be confirmed, however due to the nature of work within the College, it is anticipated that travel to all campus sites may be required. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and operate financial systems and records, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal financial control requirements. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, control accounts and journal entries, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances. Supervise and review the preparation of bank reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end routines. Contribute to financial submissions including Annual Statutory Financial Statements, monthly Non-Departmental Public Body returns, Department for the Economy Annual Financial Accounts and other sectoral returns. Assist in the review, development and embedding of financial policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with DfE and public-sector guidance. Reporting to the Secretary & General Manager, this key senior role holder will be the primary point of contact for all data privacy matters within the Hospital. They will be responsible for advising the hospital on all its obligations relating to data governance as it relates to national and European legislation. This postholder is pivotal to safeguarding the organisation’s information assets. While reporting directly to the Secretary & General Manager, the postholder may also provide reports to the Hospital’s CEO (Master). Responsible for monitoring the organisation’s compliance with data protection obligations. Inform and provide advice regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and act as a contact point for data subjects and relevant supervisory authorities.
